Which one?

Am I right in saying the 300ZW is more reliable at the moment? My "Zwave guy" only has the 200ZW, but I can always find somebody else for this particular purchase if it's worthing getting the 300ZW.

Cheers,
Matt.

I don't understand your question, one is a USB stick and the other device is a remote controller...

Apologies, I'm at work so am having to do covert reading/posting. I thought they were both types of inclusion remotes. That's all I would be using it for, with the Seluxit viaSENS controller.

Cheers,
Matt.

EDIT: I see you are using the 200ZW as an inclusion remote; I guess that answers my question :)

What is it that you prefer?

Would you still recommend the Aeon Labs over the Tricklestar given my (lack of) Z-wave skill?

I thought that the reason the Aeon Labs dongle  was a bad choice is its lack of ability to work in SIS mode?  So what are you combining the Minimote with?

The Tricklestar inclusion remote requires that you press a few more button to instigate inclusion in SIS mode...apart from that there is little difference.

All the best

seluxit viasens 100.

The Aeon Labs dongle can work in SIS mode together with a remote, too.

I tried including the tricklestar 200ZW with my mcv dongle but it was not completely successful.  I could get it to include but it did not seem to be fully configured.  I could see an extra controller in the advanced tree in the admin web site but I could not include anything with it.

Did not know that. What are the disadvantages (if any) of using an Aeon Labs dongle + remote VS Seluxit viaSENS + remote?

@mythified, do you have any experience with the seluxit? Do you think your issue is unique to the Aeon Labs dongle?

Cheers,
Matt.

I have no experience with the Seluxit since I am in the US and it appears there are only EU versions of that.  Whether my issue is unique I don't know.  In order to include the tricklestar controller I had to pull the MCV dongle out of my machine and include it by pushing the button.  The controller would not include while connected to the machine and sending an add node command.  Also, while reading the specs on the Aeon/MCV it said that the dongle was an update controller.  While it did not specifically say that it would not work in SUC or SIS, the specs did not say that it could either.  Once I received the Tricklestar it specifically said it would work in SUC and when used with the Tricklestar controller it would work in SIS.  You just had to make sure that the controller was the second device in the network.

In any case, I did include the Tricklestar controller with the MCV dongle (with the usual remove the dongle, putting it in include mode, and including the Tricklestar controller with it) but could not include any devices with the controller.  It has been a couple of weeks since I have tried but I believe I could include a device with the controller but whatever should have happened between the Tricklestar controller and the MCV dongle did not occur.  lmce never saw the newly included device.

Early versions of the Aeon Labs dongle (and also some tricklestar units) had a problem where they got stuck needing a soft reset. The antenna design of the Seluxit is outstanding. Other than that you should have no disadvantages. The zwave library version is even newer on the Aeon Labs.

http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/ZWave#SUC.2FSIS_Mode_.28recommended.29

I'm trying to follow these instructions with my new Seluxit viaSENS and Aeon Labs Minimote, and I'm at the "If not using a Tricklestar remote:" part. I'm pressing the "Include" button whilst holding the Minimote next to the Seluxit, but the remote is just giving me no confidence that it is working. The seluxit does flash a few times, but I do not get the message on the orbiter.

Is the Minimote supposed to appear in web admin if successful? Am I right in saying it should appear in the devices tree as a second "ZWave Controller" with node ID "2"?

Cheers,
Matt.

EDIT: Didn't try the "Learn" button, will do that tonight.

regarding the manual (and my experience) you need to use the learn button..
