Remote with Motion Sensor
« on: September 29, 2010, 02:15:38 pm »
Has anybody notices this motion sensor remote before?
http://www.chinavasion.com/product_info.php/pName/wireless-pc-remote-with-motion-sensor/

Looks like it could be a perfect match for lmce, not sure if it would just work with plug and play or needs some setup for motion sensor to work right away?

It looks pretty cheap so maybe somebody from the forums buys it and lets the rest of us know how it works with lmce

Cheers,
Valent.

Well, from a first glance, it's touted as essentially a Wii remote that works with Windows machines.  I believe we already have the Wii remote working with lmce.  And Wii remotes are $40 at your local "whatever" (no s/h).  I guess I don't see the draw.

I have a Wiimote connected to my LinuxMCE via bluetooth and it works perfectly for me.
However Tschak909 is working on making it PNP.

This looks more user friendly. Wiimote needs to be connected each time before you can start using it, and mine goes so powesave mode and disconnects that makes it really much less user friendly that standard remote controls that you just pickup and use.

Wiimote:
1. step: press A+B
2. step: wait 5 secs for handshake and connection to PC
3. step: if fails (and sometime it does) repeat step 2, else goto step 4
4. step: use the remote

ps. when remote goes to sleep mode repeat from beginning.

Regular remote
1. step: use the remote

Wiimote is great when you use it, but it just isn't ment to be used as remote unfortunately so that is why I'm looking more for this device as I already have Wiimote and am not happy with it.

Also spouse approval rate for Wiimote is really low :(

Cheers,
Valent.

Dude, you piss everybody off on a daily basis. Stop it.

There is only one step with the wiimote driver that I am developing FROM SCRATCH... Pair it.

I am sick and tired of you. Go away. You do not have all the facts, yet you spout off as if you do. You obviously never even read my entire topic regarding how to deal with the WiiMote in the first place..

I have wiimote and have been using it with my Mythbuntu box and it is just not usable as a remote :(
Maybe my remote has some issue so it disconnects or goes to sleep but I *DO* need to pair it every time if I leave it alone and nor press any button for more than 15 minutes. That has nothing to to with LinuxMCE and I think that just the Wiimore sucks not lmce.

lmce is the best thing ever and I didn't say anything against it or your implementation of wiimote code that I haven't tried but will probably be great.

So what is your problem? Why is this annoying you so much? Feel free to ignore my posts.
