MD going into suspend instead of shutdown
« on: August 12, 2010, 10:15:57 pm »
Hello,

For no reason one of my MD's did not shutdown when powering it of from the power menu. No display anymore but the system still runs... a bit, ie powerlight is on but no interaction with lan, keyboard or monitor. Holding the on/off button for some time does the job.

About 2 days ago I noticed that shortly before the display disappears I saw the word "suspend". So I performed a shutdown from the CLI and even a reboot. All working ok but it looks like the md shutoff button in the power menu brings it into suspend in stead of shutting down the whole MD.

When booting I always get the question "reload router?" as per http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=8910.0

No clue how to get it out of suspend modus. Maybe somebody can shed some light?

edit: saw the following in the updates list:
Update 2010-08-02 23227
pluto-app-server (145,126) - Do proper check to determine if suspend is supported

Could there be any relation?

Hi,

The latest update now includes a check if suspend is supported (There was a missing piece of code). So that is why your MD suspend instead of shutdown.

There will be a setting to override this (a new device data for the MD) for cases where it does not work as expected.

best regards,

Hi Sambucca,

well suspend does not work on my MD (yet) so making it shutdown now brings it into suspend mode which I cant get it out anymore, only by pulling the plug or holding the on/off button for more then 4 secs. What can I do to work around?

We'll my other MD is down the drain as well  >:( Goes into suspend but won't boot anymore.

Is the shutdown button on the power screen now linked to suspend? Is there a way to revert this, rather have a suspend and shutdown button...

daballiemo,

one of the next builds will have an option in the web admin part of the MD to specify what should happen upon the user hitting Power Off on the Orbiter

Hi,

The change has been made, so the next update will contain this fix. On the advanced media director screen you should have a "PowerOff mode" option, which will default to H , which is Halt(power off). This can be changed to S for suspend for those that wants that.

(If the option does not appear at first, try saving the page once first).
