Intel BOXD510MO fanless board
« on: August 08, 2010, 10:25:22 am »
Hi all

I'm looking to replace my old VIA Nehemiah based MD, and I stumbled on this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813121399

The price is quite interesting, but specs are not saying that much to me.

I'm not playing HD video, so no top notch performances needed.
Is there anyone that can give me an opinion/suggestion on this item?

Thanks and regards
Marco

Hi,

This board should work fine as far as I can see. It uses an Intel GMA 3150 so UI2 + Overlay will probably have issues but UI1 should be fine.

However I would still tend to choose one of the Atom/Ion boards over this board personally.

All the best

Hi.

I have one of these, I am not using it for an MD but a core.

So far it has been a bit of a trial to set up, as the realtek r8168 has issues with the DVD images for 810, but the net install method with the kubuntu live cd seems to resolve that.

Be aware that there are only 2 sata ports on the board, and a single pci slot as well as a minipci slot for a wireless card or maybe a broad com card.  If you are going for a md I would look at an ion 330 based system, such as the acer revo 3610

We use an OEM variant of the AsRock 330 chassis in our NC30 small Core this works well if your only going to build a small system or just want something small to sit on the work bench to experiment with.

See the wiki page on the standard consumer AsRock 330 here http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/AsRock_330_ION_HT

All the best

Thanks to all for your comments

I was looking for some good compromise between performances and price, now I will go to vacation and will think about it ...

Thanks again
