Subtitles on Core but not MD
« on: May 04, 2010, 11:06:00 pm »
Ok have a strange one,

I have a few video files that have subtitles, embedded not seperate files....
When I play the video on My Hybrid I get the Subs however playing the files on any other MD gives me just the movie with no Subs!!
Any ideas why??

Which kind of files? mkv? are they renamed to m2ts? are the .mplayer/config (under core and md at /root/.mplayer/config) the same?

Yes mkv files renamed to m2ts, not sure if the config files are the same right now, dont have acces to my core but ill check later, is there a setting in the config for subs? I would like to know this as I have had a question on a previous thread about how to get rid of embedded subs and looks like this "blooper" in my setup has pointed me in the right direction!!

This should do it:

http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Subtitles_Support - this wiki applies to xine.

m2ts is played by mplayer, so, the configs are in /root/.mplayer/config (c/h and md) (used by root) and /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf (systemwide for c/h and md).

Ya I guessed as much when I noticed that it was having no bearing changing the files :)

So looking at the mplayer.conf file the only thing that refers to subs in it is
Code: [Select]
# DVD: Display English subtitles if available.
#slang = en

And from what I gather this is only the language settings!! nothing to do with turning on and off subs :(
