One of my MD's is an old laptop, and it works great as an diskless MD. But if I leave it alone flikr starts and the fan starts... If I leave it more than 15minutes the laptop is frosen and unusable. The only way to get it working again, is by rebooting.

Having a laptop fan going at full speed in the bedroom is not very WAF. So I have to turn it of after every use.

But when wathing tv shows or movies, the fan does only start for a few secs whenever the cpu is hot.

Flikr shows i nice, but I woul like to be able to disable it on this MD. Is it possible?

I don't know, how to shut down the service itself, but you could block the laptop from connecting to the internet, which might be a work around, by either blocking it's access at your router, using iptables or by giving the media-director a static ip-adress and not setting the default gateway.

I don't know if the media-directors to get updates from the internet directly. if that is the case, this would of course not work anymore...

Hi,

I think on Media Directors page, there is a link to Applications and there you can disable photoscreensaver...

HTH,

Thanks in advance,

Hi,

Go to Web Admin -> Wizard -> Devices -> Media Directors then scroll to the MD you want to turn the screensaver off on and click the 'Edit' button next to 'Software Modules' and un-tick 'Photo-screen-saver' and click 'Save'. That will turn the screen save off on that MD.
