hauupage nova td 500 issues
« on: April 15, 2010, 07:28:29 pm »
Hi
I am having issues with the Nova td 500 card in linuxmce. The card works fine in XP and i have had limited success with getting it to work in Myth TV 09-10

I have followed the instruction on the following link

http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Hauppauge_WinTV_Nova-T_500_PCI which seem to go through ok but upon restart when i try and the TV card into director it is not in the list. I have chosen the option of nova t 500 but i get no signal

Reading further down the above page i found the command  below, and with the following results. I have tried copying the firmware file to lib/firmware directory but still get the same error message

Can any one help please?

...
dcerouter_1009344:/# mv dvb-usb-dib0700-1.20.fw /root
Try: mv dvb-usb-dib0700-1.20.fw /lib/firmware/ instead.

Non of this needs to be done

From the Term apt-get update and apt-get install v4l2-modules and it will take care off the rest
that process will take about 15 min to install the correct drivers and for the firmware apt-get install v4l2-firmware

This is taken care off on the snapshot dvd's so i assume you have an old install

If you still cant get it to work jump into the irc channels and we can fix you up..

There still is a know bug with mythtv right now but we have almost got it fixed !

Thanks

Hi Guys

Thanks for your help, sorry for the slow reply. it seems as thought i have already ran the command to load the vl42 modules. However i have ran them again and attached the results, hope you don't mind.

It seems as though some packages have not installed as they are missing from the servers or have been moved (see attached)

Any body got any ideas?

Neil

Just to let you know, I had a horrible experience with this tuner and ended up changing it, the constant need for reboots due to the USB disconnect problem was really getting on my tits. Not sure if this is still the case.

And this tuner is "TD" I've just noticed - does this refer to it being a "Diversity" model? My understanding was that the Diversity model is a linux no-no for some reason (all of this was over a year ago now, so don't quote me). Have a google, see if this is in any way related to your issues.
