Users / Sharing Sky Plus device template
« on: May 11, 2010, 12:12:21 pm »
I have created a new device template for a sky plus satellite receiver. I did this using a usbuirt and 'learning' the ir commands. There are already 'sky' codesets but none of them work for my receiver.

How can I make this template available for all users of LinuxMCE?

Users / Multiple Nokia N800 orbiters
« on: May 06, 2010, 11:40:51 am »
I have created an orbiter in web admin for a nokia n800. I now have two more n800s which I want to use in different rooms.

What is the best practice. Should I ....
1. Create a new orbiter in web admin for each room?
2. Can all n800s use the same (existing) orbiter id?

Users / [SOLVED] Acer Revo 1080p with 810?
« on: May 05, 2010, 06:43:01 pm »
I am having problems with my acer revo atom 230 (single core) md at 1080p.

This machine should be capable of 1080p shouldn't it? I have vdpau enabled and cpu usage is very low but I'm getting freezing and sometimes audio but no video.

Anyone else seen this?

Users / Controlling Denon AVR2310 Receiver on hybrid 810
« on: April 28, 2010, 07:41:08 pm »
Just hooked up my Denon AVR2310 Amp and it was auto detected as the Denon AVC-A1SRA (RS232). Which will do for now! Mostly same commands.

Main volume and mute works on my orbiters/remote straight away.

I have two questions:
1. How do I access the many other functions this receiver has programmed as ruby codes? Should it appear graphically on my orbiter? Have I missed a step?
2. Is it possible to have the amp go into standby once I stop playing media? I can't find the setting in scenarios.

Users / Cheap IR wireless IP/Network Pan/tilt Camera
« on: April 15, 2010, 01:21:47 am »
I have been testing the Foscam FI8908W IP camera on lmce 810. This camera is readily available on ebay for around £60 ($100) but make sure you get the foscam and not a clone.

Previously only supported active x but latest firmware supports server push mode for firefox/google chrome etc albeit with some limitations. Excellent resource website link:
http://www.gadgetvictims.com/2009/07/foscam-ip-camera-part-two.html

Stream is mjpeg with pan and tilt functions accessible via cgi commands.

I am new to the security aspects of LMCE but I have had the camera working (without pan tilt so far) under motion wrapper and available from all MDs using the following url in the 'device data --> path' parameter:
http://ipcam_url/videostream.cgi?user=username&pwd=password

Sometimes get dropouts and have to reboot core but I think this camera could be made fully operational inside lmce.

Don't shout at me if it doesn't work for you. I am doing more testing and have just ordered 2 more plus the outdoor version (Foscam FI8904W).

Users / Emprex 3009URF RF Vista MCE remote
« on: April 01, 2010, 05:33:18 pm »
Took a gamble and bought this mce RF remote from Amazon.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Emprex-3009URF-Windows-Center-Control/dp/B002A8HEFY/

USB receiver dongle plugs in, connected the remote and had 90% functionality straight away using 810.

Missing functions are the green mce button (biggest pain), mute and volume do nothing. All media keys work as expected as does 'guide', 'back', all numbers, channel up/down. So it's almost there. Just that magic green button and I'd be happy.

Comments on Amazon regarding linux use:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/review/R24W6CO393NC4I/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm

Installs as a hid device/keyboard. Anyone tried this remote? Any thoughts on how or if I can get the green mce button to work?

Users / Video playback fails on md in 810 (acer revo)
« on: March 22, 2010, 12:43:42 am »
I have got TV working fine but as soon as I select a video (including recorded TV) my md crashes.

I have run a ssh session and it seems that xorg is using 100% of the CPU at these times. Anyone got a fix for this?

Users / 810 Capture aspect ratio problem
« on: March 17, 2010, 01:09:17 am »
I have just got my satellite AV device working through my PVR150 capture card in LinuxMCE 810.

It looks like xine is being used to play the s-video capture. I cannot change the resolution and it is stuck on 4:3 even though the source is 16:9. I can't change it using the zoom/aspect menu item either.

Anyone know how to change the resolution or have I missed something?

Users / [SOLVED] Capture card/Mythtv setup - help please
« on: March 11, 2010, 04:09:39 pm »
I am still running 710 and I am trying to get lmce to control my sky satellite box using a usbuirt. I imagine the process is the same under 810.

I have a PVR150 which is working fine and I have added the s-video 1 as a source in mythtv. I created a video source (guessed at the eit guide data) and did a full scan. This gave me 83 channels of the s-video connection in mythtv. Weird.

I can watch this under the TV option in lmce. However, I'm trying to add the av device (sky box) as av equipment controlled by the usbuirt.

I have done this and my 'sky box' appears under the media menu but does not work when clicked although the menu on the left reads Satellite Radio and has options (Direct a/v, resend a/v codes etc).

Is this the right procedure? I have already trawled the wiki and forums.

Just a quick note for UK users with dvb-t reception.

This device is on offer for a few days for £24.99 at maplin.co.uk. Offer ends 27th October 2009. Sadly, I just paid £40 for mine!

Users / Lost Audio 7.10
« on: October 07, 2009, 12:08:22 pm »
I've just moved to a new temporary home and brought my core (Abit AN-M2) with me. At first it worked fine. Then I removed the 2 satellite cards as I can't connect them here (dvb-t instead).

Since removing the satellite cards I have completely lost all audio and I am trying to diagnose the problem.

Should there be a driver listed in the 'audio' tab of the LMCE Launch Manager? There isn't on mine and it's not something I've looked at before.

Any help appreciated.
(Might be time to try 8.10 I think!)

Users / Regular media backup to spare disk
« on: September 08, 2009, 03:53:01 pm »
I use a core based raid 5 array (built in webadmin). I still run 7.10 and I am slightly nervous about losing my media.

I thought it might be a good idea to install a large spare sata drive (not used as a file server by lmce) and run a weekly backup. Incremental would make sense I guess if possible.

Does anyone do or recommend this? Would it be possible to automate it using scripts?

Users / Raid recommendations
« on: April 29, 2009, 01:04:40 pm »
I am about to install a software raid 5 array in my core. Still running 710.

Given that we are moving towards lmce 810 ... will my data be safe for the migration or should I be looking at an external NAS solution?

Users / User space limits?
« on: April 16, 2009, 07:11:51 pm »
My wife's wind*ws computer has got problems .... so I told her to copy all her precious files to the 1TB raid core share documents folder. While she was doing this she got a notification that it was out of space. It isn't.

I'm guessing there are user limits but I can't find the setting in the web admin. Anyone got any ideas.

Users / Multiple telecom trunks?
« on: April 15, 2009, 01:06:02 am »
Just got an account with sipgate.co.uk. Thanks to wiki articles (and forum posts) I have it working.

Anyone know if I can have more than one sip supplier and use one for incoming calls and another for outgoing calls?

Reason for this is:
Supplier 1 (sipgate) has given me a local number (DID)
Supplier 2 does not provide this service but has better call rates

Still using 710 at the moment.
