Feature requests & roadmap / Displaying weather, etc.
« on: August 17, 2007, 05:20:23 pm »
Does anyone have any suggestions on how i can have an orbiter display weather for my area? I was thinking something along the lines of plugin or even hardware. I like the idea of having some type of RSS or something that displays the weather for the entire week or next few days or whatever. Also, have it as a button on the orbiter so you can switch it on and off if you are doing something...then i could just switch it back on as the display when i dont use it.

Users / Orbiter over WAN
« on: August 16, 2007, 09:46:47 pm »
I see where it has the router IP when the orbiter starts. Can I change that to a WAN IP on my external firewall addresses? If i did and had to forward that IP to the LinuxMCE box, what port would I need to open throught the firewall for the orbiter to work?

Users / Asterisk PBX
« on: August 14, 2007, 03:03:34 am »
I want to set up a PBX that would have 3 analog phones. Does anyone have any hardware suggestions for FXO or FXS cards that aren't expensive but are still decent. I have looked at Digium cards but was hoping for some alternatives. Has anyone set up a PBX with LinuxMCE?

Users / Hauppauge Support
« on: August 02, 2007, 11:48:39 pm »
Has anyone used a WinTV HVR 1800? It's PCI-express. Should that be supported as well as the regular PCI cards? I just saw them recently on their page and haven't found a place to actually buy one yet...although i didnt look too hard. Any ideas or experience from anyone?

Installation issues / Can't start A/V Wizard
« on: July 31, 2007, 04:01:11 pm »
I want to change the resolution from 640/480 to ANYTHING higher. I try to do it and it says the machine will restart and the wizard will begin after it boots up. It hangs with a black screen when it tries to boot up. Then i have to reset the machine and when it boots back up, no wizard. Can i change the xorg.conf and get it to work that way and not using the wizard. I have an nVidia 7300 GT card....i have read the 6 series cards are work....could the 7 series be the problem?

Installation issues / File server trouble
« on: July 31, 2007, 03:55:31 pm »
When LinuxMCE starts, it keeps seeing my file server (W2K3) and asks if I want to use it. No matter how many times I say yes, it asks again later. Is there anything additional i need to do, or that I could do in the admin site to set up the file server with the shares. I don't know much about Linux. Is there anything I need to do on the W2K3 side or do I need to set up some sortof samba thing in Kubuntu/LinuxMCE?

Users / DVR CCTV Card
« on: July 30, 2007, 11:20:08 pm »
I don't know a lot about DVR cards. I would like to do the mythtv thing with Hauppauge or whatever; but what I need to figure out is how to do security cams, other than through IP cams. Is there a DVR CCTV card that is supported in LinuxMCE? Plans to support any?

Feature requests & roadmap / Hardware Pre-install Check
« on: May 27, 2007, 07:22:22 pm »
Running a check on the installed hardware to verify support by linuxmce. Something that says you have this and this and its going to work very easily. This was found and we arent sure what it is ...support may be on the way or it may not work well at all ever. Something similar to the vista rating system maybe...idk. Maybe checking to see what hardware goes with what category.....

Video: nVidia 8600 GT videocard

DVR: undetermined

something like that....but..of course..something better ;)

Users / IR output from LINUXMCE?
« on: May 01, 2007, 05:34:42 am »
What can I use to output IR with a hardwire connection in LINUXMCE?  I know the USB-UIRT will do a blaster control; but I need a hardwire connection to another blaster I have. Any ideas?
