I've tried the burning software that comes installed with ubuntu, GnomeBaker, and DeepBurner(XP).

Anyone else have any thoughts/suggestions on fixing this?  Is there some way to make the installer read from a directory instead of a CD, maybe then it wouldn't give me these errors?

it's a CD-R.  From the same spindle I used to burn my ubuntu disc which runs fine.

I keep getting input/output errors when Linux tries to cp the .deb files from the CD.  I've burned the CD several times, including my desktop (aka the htpc), my laptop, and on my laptop in WinXP, and none of them have worked.  I'm at wit's end; any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

ERROR : Failed to read correctly from the LinuxMCE CDROM

I just tried installing tonight and received the exact same error.  Can anyone help us?

I have been looking into a (preferably linux-based) media center solution to easily play my video and audio files on my HDTV, and think I'm almost ready to install Linux MCE.  However, I have a few questions first:

1) My girlfriend has young children.  Does LMCE have any way for me to regulate what they can watch from my video collection?

2) I would definitely prefer to remove the overscan from my Linux desktop instead of just shrinking the LMCE gui to fit the screen.  What resources are available that will help me configure Linux in this way?
