I have a 250GB, and 3x2TB hard dives. I had running LMCE10.04 in Virtualbox but I never was able make use of those TB drives because I couldn't get past VB to recognize these drives. I have some down time this weekend and wondering how to go about it to make it work. I think I will start with a fresh install.
What I would like is to use 250GB drive to load Ubuntu 10.04 and run Virtualbox and load Kubuntu/LMCE10.04 as a VM. TB drives to house all media files. Do I set up disks (raid-0) in Ubuntu or set up raid-0 in LMCE running in VB? What are the steps that I should follow? or would you configure these drives in an another manner?
Thanks in advance.

Installation issues / VirtualBox LinuxMCE
October 14, 2011, 05:27:43 AM
Hi,
I have a Dell T310 Quad core Xenon with 8GB ram and 2NICs that I run LMCE8.10 Final now (onboard audio/video only) as a core out of the way in the basement with multiple MDs throughout the house. I have been using this for over a year now dedicated to LMCE versions. I consider myself as a newbie when it comes to LMCE and now VirtualBox though. What I would like to do is start from scratch and install Ubuntu 11.04 as the host OS and run VirtualBox. With that I'd like to run LMCE 8.10 as a guest and LMCE10.04 beta, perhaps XP and Windows7 also. I'd like to use my primary 500GB HD to run host/VB/guest OS's and keep media in other HDs. I have few questions perhaps better answered by all helpful experts in this forum.  Is there an advantage to run Ubuntu 11.04 server as a host OS oppose to Ubuntu 11.04 desktop to run VirtualBox? Would you install LMCE from 8.10 Final release or use snapshot (Oct 5th release) in VB? Do I need to issue more commands in terminal to get LMCE running in VB? How would you configure (hd/ram allocations) in VirtualBox?
Thanks

Installation issues / Playing with MD
January 30, 2011, 08:04:10 AM
I have multiple MDs PXE booting out of LMCE 810 server. I would like to install a hard drive in one of them and load xbmc live so that I can explore that too.
I have my media in server(LMCE 810) volumes and I would like to keep it that way but I'd like to access them through XBMC as well. Can this be done?
Thanks

Users / Satellite tuning in NA
November 27, 2010, 04:11:42 AM
Hi all,
Does anybody have experience in intergrating a Sat tuning card in the server?
I am kind of partial to Skywalker-2 card from Genpix. Is this a good choice or what other cards available for HD tuning?
It has to work in CS environment also.
Thanks in advance.

Installation issues / MCE 0710 won't install
November 15, 2009, 04:09:42 AM
I am new to lot of things with Linux although I read alot in this forum. Having seen the video I am determined to get this machine  running. My problem is that I am trying to install MCE 0710 (DVD) on a HP Proliant DL580 server that has a raid controller. MCE goes thru upto installing on to the disk and says cannot install yet it sees my primary and logical disk. On this same machine, I have no problem installing Kubuntu 9.04. Same MCE disk I used on another computer and it works like a charm. I intend to dedicate this server purely for MCE. Question is why wouldn't MCE install on this? Out of 4 disks that I have in this raid, the first disk was partitioned as primary with 8Gb for boot, 3 Gb for Linux Swap and 25Gb as logical. Boot and Logical formatted to Ext3. The other 3 disks partitioned as extended logical. Can Linux gurus here show me the path please?
Thanks

Has any of the members ported Raspody N35 (from divxtech) as a media director?
Specs seem good. Not counting on original s/w but I think I could use audio/video/network part of it.
What do you guys think?
Thanks
