Users / Updated Template list
May 09, 2013, 08:31:45 PM
I am trying to find a template that Whateverfits has submitted and cannot find it.  The template uses manufacturer: Radio Thermostats and the description is: 3M50

I do not have the manufacturer in the manufacturer list. Possy confirmed that the Manufacturer exists in his list

I made sure my core was upto date - apt-get Update and Upgrade then

I did a sqlCVS Diff, reverted everything and did and "sqlCVS Update".

My understanding is that the templates should be upto date - am I doing something wrong?

Users / 1-Wire Temperature Sensors
February 16, 2013, 06:46:20 PM
So I have 4 Temperature sensors installed in my 1-Wire network.

2 days back 1 was accidentally unplugged.  Since then the temperature has remained constant at the temp that was being reported - even after a reload and reboot.  what is the correct process for getting this to work again?

Users / Asterisk Security
January 11, 2013, 07:28:05 PM
is Asterisk in LMCE 10.04 vunerable to brute force attacks?

there was a period earlier where lots of people were being billed for hacked calls, is security better now or is it still suggested to use something like fail2ban?

Users / Airsight IP Cameras
December 30, 2012, 09:23:24 PM
is anybody using the Airsight IP cameras that are available from http://www.x10.com/homepage.htm?

If so, are they plug and play? do they work with a particular template?

Users / 1-wire Autodetection
December 20, 2012, 07:45:29 PM
Over the last 6 months I have reinstalled a number of time for various reasons and everytime my 1-Wire USB device was autodetected, installed and then the connected sensors were found and installed.  This sometime took days, one time was really quick (L3mce said it was because of changes to the detection radar).  My latest install has been up for 3 months now and is yet to detect and install the device.

Any ideas if this is working right now?

Users / 0810 or 1004?
August 14, 2012, 11:33:53 PM
So it is time to replace my aging core with a monster core (tyrannoCOREus rex) and I am wondering if I should bite the bullet and proceed to 1004?

I have seen many posts stating how stable 1004 is and that all sounds good but are there any features of 0810 that are currently not ready in 1004?

I have a std LMCE setup (external - core/hybrid - internal) network.  what I want to do is redirect certain traffic from the internal and core/hybrid that is bound for the internet through a VPN and the rest of the traffic via the normal route.  What is the best way to do this?

Users / 1-Wire Deployment
February 08, 2012, 07:05:52 PM
I have a 1-Wire interface and would like to get some input from other 1-wire users on how they are planning to expand this network, what wiring, how many sensors, types of sensors and parasitic or separate power.

So far I have Cat5e run throughout my house and therefore I was thinking of using 4 of the 8 wires for any POTS (telephone) network which leaves 4 for something else.  I was planning to dedicate 2 or 3 to 1-wire.

All these Cat5e runs terminate at a patch panel in my basement where I have dedicated 8 ports to connecting the same coloured wires together.  My sensors would give me temperature for Bed1, Bed2, Bed3, Main Bath, Living Room, Family Room, Garage, Pool, 3 season room.  I am thinking with this many sensors over a distance I am going to need seperate power and not parasitic power - anyone any experience?

Users / Power Down in the event of a power outage
December 19, 2011, 07:44:24 PM
My core is currently attached to a small UPS so that when there is a power outage the core remains live.  This solved the initial issue I had which was to stop my core going down during lighning storms in summer when the power would be out of under a few seconds.  However, if the power is out for over 10 minutes then my core abruptly shutsdown and bad things can happen.

I have thought of a few ways to overcome this:
1.  Hardware - buy a UPS with a USB port that will inform the PC if there is no Power (Some APC models do this)
2.  Software - is there a way LMCE can look at an 'appliance' (MD, TV, Reciever, externally powered Z-wave dongle, etc) that should alway be 'connected' (RS232, Ethernet, USB etc) and if it isn't there then wait 5 mins and then power down? with the MD it must send a wake up over LAN first, I guess.

How are others approaching this?

Users / Alarm Clock from UI2
April 28, 2011, 06:13:37 PM
I have an MD in the bedroom running UI2 and would like to be able to switch on the alarm from the UI2 on screen orbiter.  This is done using the sleeping menu from UI1 but I cannot see how this can be done from UI2?  is this functionality missing from UI2?

In an earlier thread, help was requested closing out tickets by confirming they are fixed or not applicable anymore.

I took a look at the ones I opened accompanying some device templates I created and they are still open and I cannot close them, therefore I thought I would start a thread for anyone who also opened a ticket or knows of one that needs closing because it is not applicable or fixed.

If the Devs would prefer this to be handled in a different way or in a different section of the forums feel free to let me know or move it/change it.

Please post your ticket number to be closed and how these were tested:

Users / Bluetooth Dongles
December 02, 2009, 03:44:09 AM
I have tried 2 different Bluetooth Dongles and both have problems the first shows up and finds the phone but does not send out the right messages (according to Hari after I sent him one).  the second (my latest attempt to get this working) does not even find phones or anything.  The second device is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833139019 which says it works with Linux, I tried what the reviewer stated.

Any ideas on how I can get the second device working or can anybody send a link to one they know definately works?

Thanks,

Feature requests & roadmap / Automatic Playlist generation
September 12, 2009, 03:32:02 PM
One thing that later versions of Windows MCE 2005 has that we don't is automatic playlist generation.  Windows will create a list of the most frequently accessed Audio files into a 'most listened to' playlist.  It does go a little further with Most listened to in the evenings and most listened to on weekends.  I know the media is accessed via a database and that the media know if it has been played or not.  So I think the foundations are there.

Is this possible?  What do people think of this?

Users / Asterisk - LMCE Integration
July 18, 2009, 08:06:50 PM
When a call comes in and in picked up by the IVR (after the number of seconds specified by the Home>Call Routing page), A voice says "to call everybody in the house press 1" and then a second voice comes in and says "to Call Jason press 2, to Dial Maxine press 3"

I have a couple of questions:

1.  Where can I find the file that does the "to call everybody in the house" thing?
2.  Can I replace the "to call everybody in the house" message with a customised message?
3.  Can I change the Names of the Users without adding new ones and then deleting the old ones?

Thanks,
Jason (Techstyle)

Users / Generic Sip Phone not ringing
May 28, 2009, 05:26:17 AM
I just bought a EP-636 Sip Phone (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001QT112K/ref=ox_ya_oh_product - $43) and tried to install it using the Generic Sip Softphone template.  After some configuration on the phone (I will do a Wiki page on the phone later) it is up and running if I dial 204 from an orbiter it rings and works fine. If I dial in from outside then all embedded orbiters on MD's ring but the Sip Phone does not.

Looking at the Telecom->Call Routing page of web admin all my call routing steps read ring extensions and include the Sip Phone

Is there somewhere else I need to set this? or any other reason why the Sip Phone doesnot ring?

Thanks,

I am in the market for a new home phone, either an IP phone or a PSTN device.  I have done some searching of the forums and the Wiki to find thr only things covered are softphones, the Cisco 7970, the Sipura/Lunksys SPA2000 and a post where Totallymaxed stated they used a Phillips DECT version in CHT Builds.  I know some of the other IP phones may work and some of the other Cisco models do work.  But I think it would be good to get a list of the models actually tried and what the result was.

Thanks,
