Installation issues / Re: Black screen after installation is finished

High, having some trouble getting linuxmce 8.10 up and running.
have istalled it on one pc fine.
After installation on the second pc i have had a black screen after one install/a white screen after another install, and when trying to force WVWizard on by holding down the shift key at start up i get red screen with cannot connect to X sever.
I have tried using the numered keys for lead type and resolution but this did nothing.

system below;(i hope this helps)

intel i7 cpu 950@3.07 ghz
Windows 7 64-bit(6gb ram)
geforce gtx 285(Nvidia)2gb
cuda cores:240
dedicated video memory 2048MB GDDR3
irq:24
2x nics on board.
tried disabling on board bios but did not know eactly what setting to change when in there,(need this explained in complete laymans terms....sorry)
also noticed mysql cannot connect through socket var        when restarting.


Thanks for the input fellow linuxonians, system now up and running although i don't really know why or how.

mysql cannot connect through socket var,
I briefly saw the above message when restarting the the pc hope this is some use in finding a sollution to my problem.
Tried the various numbered keys and right and down arrows but these also do not work.

Linux newbie here and i cannot get my head around this?Installed Linuxmce 8.10 latest(23304) on pc and work fine.ATI radeon x1300 pro graphics/1.86 dual core processor/1GB ram.
Tried it on the second pc which is top spec and after installation there is nothing.
Intel core i7 cpu 950@3.07GHz
6 GB ram
Geforce GTX 285
Driver version 258.96
Cuda Cores:240
GDDR3
I just dont know is it the bios.Can any body enlighten me.
