Feature requests & roadmap / Re: Wireless Setup
« on: September 30, 2007, 05:43:08 pm »
Hi Hagen, thanks for the feedback. I guess I should have been more specific. Its the WPA2 settings that I am having trouble with; the network settings themselves a DHCP and work fine. My network requires a WPA2-PSK. It would have been nice is the installation process had 1) asked me if I wanted to connect to a wireless network and 2) asked me for the encryption settings to connect with.

Feature requests & roadmap / Wireless Setup

I was able to make my wireless card connect by hand (using KNetworkManager to enter in WPA settings) but it would be great if LinuxMCE could have walked me through this process. Furthermore, I am having trouble making the wireless reconnect after reboot (I have to enter in all the settings by hand again.) Seems like this is something the installer should take care of.

Installation issues / Keeping Wireless Running After Reboot

I have a Linksys wmp54gs card that I am trying to connect to a WPA2-TKIP network. I have installed the KNetworkManager. If I enter KDE, select my network and type in the key, everything works just fine - but I have to do this everytime. How do I get the KNetworkManager to save the key? How do I get LinuxMCE to use my wireless connection without having to pop into KDE to turn it on?

Installation issues / 720p Significanly Off Center

Hi there. Hooked my box up to a fancy new 40" Sony LCD. Everything is running smoothly so far save for one thing. The screen image is way off to the left. I can open up the TV's menu and adjust it a little bit, but even setting the horizontal position to the far right leaves me short about and inch or two. What can I do to center the image?

On a similar note, I couldn't get the TV to recognize 1080i or 1080p signals. I saw something in the wiki that suggested that this might be a limitation of the NVidia driver. Is this true?

Installation issues / Getting Resolution to Work on my new TV
« on: September 21, 2007, 05:20:08 am »
Hi there.  I just ran through the DVD installation without any major issues. I have a Sony KDL40V3000 (supports up to 1080p) paired with a nVidia 7600 gs. I ran the initial installation over a vga cable but couldn't get any selections to work, so I switched to a DVI->HDMI cable. Still had problems getting things working until finally, after retrying 1080p@60Hz, things seemed to work. I completed the installation and rebooted my computer.

Now the screen just remains blank. I can see the initial KUbuntu loading screen. I can hear the setup video playing over the speakers, but my TV is blank. How do I make this work?
