Yes please provide the error you get when you startx. Also please upgrade to the drivers Totallymaxed advised. I might have had a similar issue with another ubuntu system that might be related to what you are having.

What is the error message your are getting when you try to boot? I might have a fix but need to see the error first.

There might be a jumper that needs to be set. But most BIOS now a days if they have an on-board video card should have an option to make the Video Card disabled so you can install the other card. That is cool that they are sending you another motherboard, nice job . So you got 2 motherboards in 1  NICE!!! It pays to make sure you get what you pay for

I am not sure on stability issues but I would say that I would return it as you didn't get what you paid for. And you shouldn't buy something else to get what you wanted (and paid for) in the first place. Just my 2 cents.

By what Thom said before about the numbers are images. Has there been any thought about allowing templates to be made for all the images? Like for different themes and such. I understand this might not be on the top of everyone's list but it might be something to think about.

Per the following link it appears that it is being worked on to run in linux. It seems we might be closer then we thought. Does anyone have an idea of when VDPAU support is going to be ready?

Hello All,

I have been doing some research and would like to get a feel for if the below is possible and what would need to happen to achieve this.

After looking at different threads and features I came up with a solution to watch and capture Blu-Ray HDCP content on linux without needing HDCP support on the linux system. Here is how.

1: Take the HDCP (HDMI) source and connect it to the HDFury2 (http://www.curtpalme.com/HDFury2.shtm).
2: Take the component HDFury2 Output and HDFury2 SPDIF Output and connect it to the Hauppage HD-PVR (http://www.hauppage.com/site/products/data_hdpvr.html).
3: Take the Hauppage HD-PVR and connect to the PC.
4: Configure LinuxMCE to use the HD-PVR. (This will need driver support and VDPAU which I am reading is in the works. Once driver support and VDPAU support is setup this should work like it should. Correct me if I am wrong.)   

With this setup you wont get full 1080p as the HD-PVR will not support it. If there is another capture device that will support 1080p please let me know as this would be even better . Please correct any information I posted here and please provide any comments to the above. Thank you for your time and have a great day!!!

My apologies, I read the information wrong. These devices support Blu-ray drives inside the PC and display through the video card which is HDCP compliant but there are no capture cards that are able to capture HDCP. There are cards out there that will capture 1080p HDMI but not a signal that has HDCP. So if there are any HDCP signals it will not work. That is a bummer as I was hoping to be able to play HDCP related DVD's and Blu-Ray with my PC that doesn't have an HD/Blu-ray player installed in it). I guess I will just have to switch inputs when I need to do that.

Colinjones,

I understand the part about the game being unplayable. What I am talking about is right now vista can take a signal from a video capture card and then display with a video card ( nvidia as this is the only video cars that supports 1080p hdcp) what I am looking for is if I can do the same thing. Take a 1080p signal and then send it back out of the computer with the video card. Per hdcp the display, video card, and capture card on the computer needs to be able to support the hdpc connection. So with that being said what I would like to do is be able to hook a 1080p conection to my computer and then with a video card that supports it display that same signal on my HD tv. Is that possible?

the Hauppauge HD-PVR, is a component based capture device, on which driver support is pending, but it can only support 720p and 1080i signals over YbPbPr cabling.

Taking the PS3 out of the picture and just talking 1080p. I was looking around and there are products out there that would be able to capture the signal. And then Nvidia cards would be able to display that signal. I am a little confused as to why you said ANY OS would not be possible. Could you please elaborate?
