Ok, understood

On checking last night, there was no xorg.conf in /etc/X11 (this is on the MD) and will re-verify when I reach home again.

Based on the link, then yes the avwizard did not run, as I did not get the section 1 of that page, that allows setting the connector, resolution and audio, the MD booted straight into Sarah.

Found it strange as it worked for my other two (2) MD's

I need a thump on my head, I am totally off topic then, its not the avwizard, its the video and audio setup screen that did not come up.

Relaunching from the orbitor on the MD, provides not success.

Have a via board, where the avwizard did not run, see file requested.

Not sure if issue is similar

Did you compile the upgraded kernel manually to get the GT 550 working?

I have a GT 520 and am interested

Okay I got sound for all my files by disabling ACS/DTS pass-through.

The first test worked in avwizard, while the second did not, maybe its my tv

Thanks all

I added the following (GE 45604 Z-Wave) to the zwave network, unfortunately/fortunately it did not create the light scenario for this device on the orbiter, though on the web site it showed up.

I then created an event, for media playing in the room, which turns the plug on and another event when media stop playing, which turns the device off.

The room that the squeezeslave is in, is a dummy room for my bedroom (named bedroom audio) - had not setup up multi room - which already had an MD and tv. Thus I created another event for when media starts on the MD in the bedroom, to turn off audio playing in bedroom audio. At night times I may simple play music, and thus do want the tv on and do have the option to dim the screen on my tv

Would this be what you looking for

http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Squeezeslave_on_the_core

I have 3 usb sound cards hooked up to separate computer speakers 2.1 and they work fine, with the speakers being turned on and off by a zwave plug outlet. Only issue was when using the onboard usb, sometimes they would startup, not in order as setup, solved by using a pci usb card I had around.

Do not know if this will be of any benefit for the gt 520

I had done the following
sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-alsa-$(uname -r)
reboot

As you see the asound version is 1.0.23, but the alsamixer say 1.0.24.2

Additional

root@moon56:~# cat /proc/asound/version
Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.23.
Compiled on Jul 25 2012 for kernel 2.6.32-42-generic (SMP).

root@moon56:~# cat /proc/asound/cards
 0 [NVidia         ]: HDA-Intel - HDA NVidia
HDA NVidia at 0xf9ff8000 irq 23
 1 [NVidia_1       ]: HDA-Intel - HDA NVidia
HDA NVidia at 0xfbe7c000 irq 17

root@moon56:~# cat /proc/driver/nvidia/version
NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86 Kernel Module  304.37  Wed Aug  8 19:50:16 PDT 2012
GCC version:  gcc version 4.4.3 (Ubuntu 4.4.3-4ubuntu5.1)

The system sees the second card, seems the different codec issue is the problem here. If I choose alsamixer and the card number (1), it tells me there are no control devices.

I have a GT 520 in one of my MD I just built, see below

Ok thanks

Did not want to go the route as in 810, manually upgrading nvidia and alsa as I knew it suppose to work

I am not sure what happened, I was able to hear the test sounds when choosing hdmi for audio, was able to hear the first past through but not the second. I was also able to hear sarah for setting up Media Player; this is an MD. Now I have finished, I am not getting any sound for videos, dvd or audio; all channels unmutted

This is my aplay -l

Users / Re: Problems installing freenas
« on: May 29, 2012, 12:07:21 am »
I did a freenas install a while back and it worked, quick questions:

Did you try wipping the first few sectors on your flash drive using dd, before doing the install, that had worked for me?

What is the brand, I have tried a kingston and a lexar, only the kingston worked?

Do you see the flash drive in the bios, can you choose it as a boot device?

Not sure if you tried this, there suppose to be an desktop link, that relaunches the orbiter.

On my system, its on the top left hand corner.
