Are all of you guys having problems using a nvidia card?

If so, it might be worthwhile to play with the xorg.conf.  I noticed some changes in nvidia support on 710rc2.  Haven't figured out exactly what yet.

I tend to lean towards Dan's opinion.  If speed is key then might as well switch over to a compiled language.  Personally, that would mean C++ for me, but to each their own.

1-3: I'm not currently involved in those parts of LMCE, so kudos for bringing them to attention... but unfortunately I can't help with them.

4: I agree with the previous poster.  I'm not sure exactly what you mean by "Amplifier".  Are you talking about Receivers?  There are actually quite a few supported and the list is growing (I'm currently ironing out a Onkyo TX-SR805 driver as we speak).  Is there a particular amplifier you're trying to use?  While my work load is fairly rough with what I'm working on, I'd be willing to look at helping create a driver for another Receiver.

It's a little difficult for us to create a large amount of drivers because it's mostly necessary for us to have the equipment to work with.  That gets difficult for someone like me because I can't afford to have one of everything

How are you connecting your speakers to the MD?  SPDIF?  Front, Back, etc. stereo jacks?

Does your Surround sound setup have a headphone jack already?  Most speaker sets made for computers do.

Need to know a little bit more about how you have it setup.

Well, Flickr is now working well.  I go to Advanced -> Software -> Add Software, and I see nothing listed under "Core" or "Hybrid/Core".  Is that normal?

I'm having this issue as well.

Interesting sidenote (I thought anyway).  I have a HDMI vid card and run the connection through a Onkyo 805 receiver.  This is just for testing as a MD will eventually be connected through the Onkyo with SPDIF surround sound.  Currently I'm running a stereo to RCA adapter to the receiver.  I noticed the video is a little faster than the sounds (mouth opens, count to 10-20ms and the sounds hits).  This confused me because I was always under the impression that the video was supposed to lag, not the sound, when using digital video.  I figured, "No problem", and went into the receiver setup and changed the delay from 20ms to 0ms.  Everything looked great, but it started de-syncing again after a short amount of time.  I double checked the delay on the receiver and all is still where I left it.  So either a) I never fixed it and missed the smaller delay or b) something got confused again.

Also, I tried HDMI & SPDIF from my laptop w/ WinXP and there is no sync issues.  Dunno if that's windows or the combination of digital inputs (rather than mixing digital vid and analog sound).  I did notice, however, that the sound coming from the laptop speakers is out of sync (or Phase if you're a real audiophile) with the rest of the setup.  Again, the 20ms or so delay.

I'd be interested in hearing which way it's desyncing for everyone else.  Is the vid or sound faster?  Also, what inputs everyone is using.  I know some new devices have A/V sync controls (like my receiver).

For reference, my setup is:
Video
HDMI vid card -> HDMI input on Onkyo Receiver -> HDMI input on Mitsubishi Projector
Sound
Stereo output on Hybrid Core -> stereo to RCA adapter -> receiver RCA L/R input -> speakers.

Exactly what I needed, thanks a ton!  Sorry for being retarded and not looking it up in the hardware list   I should have looked there first...

However, I am hitting a small problem with the forward and back buttons on the remote... or more accurately, with the config file

It appears the commands for PageUp and PageDown have changed...  I did a search and didn't come up with anything, anyone know by chance what they are supposed to be?

Also, the pause command doesn't appear to work with DVD's.  Is this a xine setting or something?  I have the correct remote keycode set for "P", but I noticed the hardware page is talking about controlling TV, not DVD's.

I really didn't do anything to eth0, I just used the systemsettings GUI in KDE and modified eth1 so that it ran DHCP, had the correct gw and gateway.  I also changed a iptables rule that had 192.168.80.0 in it, but that was me being a little silly (I was troubleshooting why a friend of mine couldn't ssh in and I missed the glaring DENY rule for the INPUT policy  )

I did find out it is possible to change the assignment of the #'s per another source ( http://www.science.uva.nl/research/air/wiki/LogicalInterfaceNames ) but "I am Legend" on my 8' x 5' projector with my newly working MCE box won the priority award

Have you had the system working with the nvidia driver?  I know the nvidia utilities won't work unless you get it working, and all those cool extras (including the extra DVI connector) probably won't work either.

I'd offer you try what I just did for my 8500gt, but I have no clue how it'd work with the CD install.  Maybe just try with the existing install, who knows...   http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=4609.0  Just backup your xorg.conf and if all doesn't go as it's supposed to those nv drivers will be there when you go back to your current settings.

if you haven't tried the envy script I think it's worth a shot.  It might get you using the right driver (or better one at least).  If you get the nvidia driver working I'd be afraid to run the AVwizard again (it nuked my graphics every time), so if you want to play with the UI mode I'd suggest doing that first.  Then again, my problem might have been a little different.

If you do get the nvidia driver going you can try to play with the nvidia wizard to see if you can get the extra DVI connector to do anything worth while.

I'm sure this is a problem that's been addressed before but I couldn't find it, links to previous posts would be appreciated.

I didn't realize this would be a problem but I changed the network configuration in MCE due to the necessity of having my Giga-LAN as my internal network.  Which changes my internal to eth0 and my external to eth1.  I think that by default MCE tries to do it the other way around.  I'm not having any trouble accessing the internet through KDE (that's how I'm accessing the forums now) but I've noticed my Software packages list is empty and flickr is trying to do something (shades are changing in background) but no pictures are coming up.  Is there a way to tell MCE about my new setup?

Is that a permanent setting?  Hit F6 once and it'll always allow that control?

Ah, I see what's going on.  Is there anyway to bind those buttons to the remote?  Or are they already and I'm not using it correctly?
