Not sure if anyone has answered you or not. I have found that f6 on the keyboard brings up the FF RW triangle square thingy. With which moving your mouse left and right on the square moves it to the bottom of the screen and from there the "location" bar with the FF and RW speeds controlled by how far you move the mouse to the left and right respectively in the "location" bar thingy. I believe also in the triangle square thingy that Up and down with the mouse controls the audio up and down.

Hope this helps.

I just changed my system from 7.04 to the beta 4 and in the process switched from an old ATI(8mb) to a freshly purchased used nvidia 5200 with an svideo out. Anyway All that to say that I used Envy to configure my nvidia drivers after I installed Kubuntu but before I installed Beta 4 . It worked pretty flawlessly  and maybe it will help you out. Here's the link to Envy http://www.debianadmin.com/envy-ati-and-nvidia-drivers-installation-made-easy.html.

Also after I did that I had to have a monitor attached to my NVidia vgaout and an svideo cable so that when I ran the AV wizard I could see the screen after switching to SVideo NTSC-M on the Display settings screen in the AVwizard.

I hope some of this will help

A few days late but here is the link to the wiki article on how to map your mouse buttons to the Function keys.
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Use_Additional_Mouse_Buttons

I will be trying it out myself in the next couple of days when I have time.
Thanks to the author of this wiki page.

P.S. Does anyone know why the "DVD-Remote" Screen doesn't stay on the screen for more than a microsecond. 7.10b4 NVidia 5200 128mb using Svideo

sorry to spam the thread but I just found a link in the wiki to setup the mouse to work as the F keys. Don't have time to hunt it and post the link here tnight but I will tomorrow if someone doesn't get to it first.

I have found this as an issue as well with 7.10 b4 . Used to be in 7.04 that a double mouse click on the screen anywhere brought up the DVD-REMOTE. So far I have found using the F7 key overlays the DVD-Playing menu with the control menu to the right etc. The F6 Key brings up the FF RR overlay and then I can choose with the mouse to control the speed .

I am curious about this. Where did the mouse button functionality go? Why does the DVD-REMOTE screen flicker on for a microsecond and then go away when I choose it from the menu's. Is it a UI bug or is it intentional? Should I try the non alpha blended UI? Is there another library I can install to get the Mouse functionality back?

P.S. I did "search" the forums and did not find an answer to this question, if there is one could someone please provide a pointer to it.

THanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply post. If you could point me in the direction of how to get started on doing "the work". I might take some time and get after it. I have been wanting to figure out a good way to contribute. I assume maybe I would start with lirc and go from there but I am not sure where to start with the ir repeater(blaster..whatever its called).

THanks in advance.

Count me in on another one of those having this issue. The offset is not large ... but it is noticable. IF Xine is the issue, does ANyone know when the new 7.10 release is going to be errr... released? Also if Xine is being replaced ... what will be the replacement?

Thanks guys for the quick responses.

Mathewss: I have noticed that kubuntu in general does a good job at recognizing a physical power button push and shuts the system down nicely in response to 1. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Totallymaxed: I just tried that and it didn't work.  I got a screen that said "Shutting Down" with an OK button. and then right back to the "select the orbiter that you want to control" screen. The machine did not shutdown.

Zaerc: I haven't played with the web:admin screens at all yet. But I know that sometimes I will want to simply shut the machine off from orbiter itself. Thanks for the pointer though... when I get a chance I am going to try to control my md with my Palm TX through the web-admin.

Is there a button in the orbiter screens somewhere that I am missing that simply shuts the computer down. I don't want hibernate ... I don't want sleep. I just want to shutdown without having to use the physical button on the mahcine. Am I dumb and just missing this?
