Does anyone know how long this takes?  I am on day #2 (over 48 hours) and still downloading files in background.  Has anyone else done this and if so, how long does it take?  Can I stop the upgrade and upgrade from cd?

Installation issues / Re: Thin client DE crash...

Well, I regenerated the md image with no effect.  Does anyone have any other ideas, short of reinstalling the whole system?  Can I safely delete an md?

Installation issues / Thin client MD crash...
December 17, 2007, 04:52:59 PM
I have had a Shuttle AMD-64 MD up and running for over a month.  This weekend while moving the device it was unplugged accidentally.  Upon power-up, I got the following:

Request_module: runaway loop modprobe binfmt-ffff

5 times in a row and then the system froze.  Rebooting the core did not help.  Has anyone seen this before or does anyone have any suggestions?

Users / Network boot media director crash...
December 17, 2007, 02:59:41 AM
Just rebooted my network boot media director and just after starting the reboot I get the following:

Request_module: runaway loop modprobe binfmt-ffff

about 6 times and then it hangs.

Nothing has changed on the MD or the core, both of which have been running for over a month.  Has anyone else seen this?

When setting the type of capture card in mythfrontend, it defaults to V4L analog type card.  The PVR-USB2 is an MPEG2.  Changing this fixes the black screen problem.

Help! Please!  On an AMD 64 3200 with GeForce 5600 as a diskless MD with UI1 and a PVR-USB2 capture device, I am getting a black screen and no audio when I try to watch TV or even display the guide.  I had to go into mythfrontend and tell myth which codecs to use for playback..it was detecting an unknown video and audio codec before I did this.  Below is a snippit from /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log.  I'm not sure what the error about Card 1 not a having a hostname is.  Can anyone see what the problem is?  I have scoured the linuxmce and mythtv forum without finding an actual solution.

Well, the underlying problem turned out to be that after the helper script ran, X tried to start but came back with an error saying that the client's nvidia driver was a newer version than the one specified in the kernel.  Don't know how that happened, but was able to run AVWizard_Run.sh by starting the MD's orbiter and then going to a console and killing X.  I was able to change from UI3 to UI2 successfully, but now I have no video at all when playing video's or mythtv...just a black screen.  Good Grief.

rafik24,

I looked in the wiki but didn't see it.  Could you point me in the right direction?

Thanks.

After selecting 'Change resolution and sound' under advanced settings on a diskless MD, the computer reboots, but after running the helper script it stays in the console screen, blanking for a second once every 7 seconds.  Has anyone else seen this?  Is there a way to force the screen wizard to run without rebooting first?

Well, uninstalling and reinstalling didn't help.  I freakin' give up.  I'm going to reload linuxmce from the dvd this time (this will make the 4th time I've installed it) and try again.  I seem to get a little closer to everything working each time.

The USB-UIRT website has a windows based program (called lrnhelper.exe I think) in their support section with which you can capture the pronto codes one by one in text format.  I captured the pertinent ones, but I haven't had a chance to try them yet.  Hope this helps.

I think I saw a post somewhere saying that this was solved, at least once, by unplugging the pvr-usb2, deleting it from the md in web-admin, and then hot plugging it.  I think I will give that a try.  Again, thanks for all the help and suggestions.

Under mythfrontend setup there is a user field.  What is this field supposed to be set to,  linuxmce or mythtv?  It is currently set to mythtv and adding linuxmce to /etc/group under mythtv did not fix my problem.

Are the problems I am seeing possibly from installing from cd's and installing a 'core only' server?  Anyway, thanks for the help.
