Users / RF Transmitter / Blaster
June 05, 2008, 06:29:39 PM
Hello Everyone,

I am looking for a way to have Linux MCE transmit RF codes to devices that accept them. I have found that the X10 CM19 could accomplish this, but I don't think that Linux has support for this device. Does anyone else have any experience with this or alternative suggestions for controlling RF devices?

Thanks  :)

Both drives are SATA. The first one is detected just fine, however the second one is not seen at all (Except in the Live CDs and other OSs.

No, KDE and LinuxMCE do not see this hard drive at all. The entire system does not have the ability to view it. As I mentioned before, I can only see the drive and format/partition from a Live CD.

I've already formatted and partitioned as EXT2. As I mentioned before, the LinuxMCE system doesn't detect the actual /dev/sdb device. It doesn't show up in anything.

I had to use a Linux LiveCD to Format and Partition.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have a second internal SATA hard drive that I have installed on this system. LinuxMCE and the KDE desktop cannot find it though. If I use a LiveCD I can see it as /dev/sdb, however LinuxMCE does not see /dev/sdb at all. It's very weird that nothing I do can see it at all.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Installation issues / Envy Errors
December 28, 2007, 02:32:03 AM
Hey Guys,

I am having a problem trying to get my NVidia drivers to get loaded properly. I am using a Geforce 7300GS PCI-e and the NVidia drivers from the website were not working very well. I have been trying to use Envy to get this completed for me, but I am receiving a couple of errors when trying to install Envy. The errors are dependency related, however they are not in the apt repositories. I don't want to mess around with the repository source list since I have read that this can cause problems for LinuxMCE.  Here is the error output of the installation for Envy:

Compatible Products & Services / USA - Best Tuner Card
November 14, 2007, 01:37:00 AM
I need to get the best tuner card for my current LMCE setup. I have been using a Wintv-PVR-150 for a while and it does not output the video as well as the TV directly connected to the cable box. I just want to make sure that I am getting the best picture quality captured available to the US users.

Any Suggestions?

Installation issues / TV Freezes
November 14, 2007, 12:17:57 AM
Hello Everyone,

When I tune in to my TV, the picture freezes after about 30 seconds to 2 minutes. It happens every time. However, everything else on the system is working fine. I am able to browse and maneuver the menu system while it is frozen. The same thing happened when I moved the tuner to another system.

My first thoughts are of course that it is probably a bad tuner (Wintv-PVR-150), but I just want to verify that there is no setting that I need to change that I am missing. Thanks

Thank you for the response. However, the real question is this; If I connect the cable box to my LinuxMCE box, won't the Time Warner GUI still display when I change channels? It doesn't seem like I will be able to only have the LinuxMCE interface.

I think there is a concept that I am missing here. The problem is this; I am only getting basic cable (Antenna channels) when I disconnect my cable box and directly connect the cable to my LinuxMCE box. If I connect the cable box to the cable and then connect the output of the cable box to my Linux MCE box, I can get all channels, but I have the stupid Time Warner menus instead of the LinuxMCE menus. I know that this must be a basic concept that I am not getting, but I don't know what to do next. Any help? Thanks

Installation issues / Re: WinTV-PVR-150 Problems
November 04, 2007, 10:45:46 PM
Thanks Jaime,

Your suggestion helped me out. The only problem is that I don“t get all of the stations that I am subscribed to. Many of the channels are just static. On top of that, the quality is below normal for the stations that I am getting (may be the wintv-pvr-150).

Hey Guys,

The channel listings for my Live-TV works great, but when I attempt to view some of the channels that I am subscribed to, I get static. I have verified that the channel numbers are correct, but I only get static.

Installation issues / MythTV Guide vs. LinuxMCE Guide
November 04, 2007, 09:41:27 PM
Hi Everyone,

I have been using MythTV for a couple of days and I have noticed a few issues. This first issue is that when I go to the TV Guide, I get the MythTV guide vs. the LinuxMCE TV Guide. How do I make sure that the guide for Linux MCE is the only guide that I should be getting?
