Getting mPlayer to work as Xine does under 0704 would be a pretty big job... and it would just be replicating what 0710 will give you anyway. I would just wait until 0710 is released as mPlayer and HD playback  will be there as standard. I can't say when 0710 will be released but it wont be long now ;-)

u have right. but.. the linuxmce looks unsusable on this form (at least for me). i apt-ed vnc and mplayer and start the videos from vnc, after use lirc to controll.

I live in Panama, so the tv standard is NTSC.  Do you know how to configure the different mpeg-2 recording data rates in Mythtv?  My suspicion is that Mythtv may be using a low data rate and thus the quality of the image is suffering.

u can set different quality recordig profiles in mythtv, then select these profiles for livetv or recording.

I assume you are using the PVR150 to grab TV from an external source. If thats so then your just seeing the quality loss when your PVR150 digitises the video. There maybe some parameters you can adjust to improve things inside Myth but I am not familiar with it enough to help you there.

If on the other hand you are comparing the "off air" picture your TV receives to the same signal delivered via the PVR150 TV encoder then I would say you are seeing a quality possibly more to do with how you are connecting your PVR150 to your TV.

so.. the max resolution is 720x576, but in the real life, the pal resolution is 768x576. other big weakness : Video digitizer: 10 bits. for good quality grabing at least 12bit, but 16bit need.

some 1000 years old bt848 pctv card outpreform this values...

all analog pctv card have a some "quality".
u can do 2 thing:

1. buy a digital tuner
2. download the tv show from ur favorite torrent site. the rss-feed is very confortable with azureus u can get sms or email if new part is downloaded.

its too weak for 1080p... if u use linux. on windows the coreavc codec or the nvidia pure video hw codec can play full hd on 4200+ x2. but with ffdshow what is formaly ffmpeg can't. the 720p and 1080i 6..10mbps will work, but u will dont enjoy. because some timing problems of linux players the video will be lagy.

if u need, i can give u my mplayer.conf and xorg.conf what is work on some machine. with excelent picture quality over hdmi, because sw yuv->rgb conversion implemented on nv6150 gpu. its work well with 720p, but the video not smooth as windows player like zoomplayer or nero player on this pc.

My wifes Greys Anatomy episodes are of that format and I watch them with VLC on Mac.
I would make the assumption that it would work for Linux. Worth a try. I am not a fan of xine or totem.  I use Mplayer and VLC for the majority of my viewing needs on Linux.

I thought I answered this already but I may have clicked the wrong button.

1) Core power usage (just measured) Asus M2NPV-VM AMD 4200 1 GB ram 80 GB HDD  65W idle and up to 95W playing HD video content.

I looked at Linuxbios and its interesting but no support for any of the hardware currently used for LMCE. And making a new BIOS looks pretty scary, don't want to toast a motherboard or processor.

r u use the cpufreqd-t?

ok, i follow ur instructions. i have working remote with lirc, the irw write the commands what i mapped to buttons. so working.

but... the linuxmce cant use my remote. a made all devices, the core is installed, sw automaicaly, restart but nothing happened...

the lircd.conf(for atiusb) what in the lirc package also not good for my remote, i made with irecord new one, with same commands what is in the officinal lircd.conf. it is possible, i must give this .conf to pluto? (how?) if i undestand well, the lirc is not needed for linuxmce, it is use own (something) what is also wrong as in package of lirc.

i have an ati made radio-remote witch work with lirc_atiusb driver. but the linuxmce use this with kernel driver it looks now a remote mouse and keyboard/numpad. thats why i cant use the record play etc buttons on it, i cant controll the mythtv. i dont need the remote mouse, just a simple remote, how can i set up?

I have had myth TV working on my system using the same hardware on ubuntu in the GNOME desktop. Since I installed LMCE I have not been able to use the TV feature. DVD's play fine. I closed out of my Orbiter and tried using the Kubuntu desktop and still I have the same problem.

"MythTV is having Problems. Reset the backend?

I have tried reseting the backend to no avail.

I am still using UI1 interface. I don't know if that would make any difference.
I have a Hauppauge 150 tuner card.
Someone please help.

some problem here, but if u select no, the mythv will work (slowly).

Not sure what type of tearing this is - but for those that experience it, have you considered interlacing as the source. Getting this set up wrong is a very common source of tearing that looks like alternate lines are left then right of each other. If it is torn line by line, then I would suggest that interlacing is the source. If there is just a small number of tears (say 1-5 vertically) spread out roughly evenly down the screen then the vsync suggestion is more likely.

While playing a DVD, I noticed that the image gets horizontal lines during fast motion scenes.

Also it may help to know that I am connecting my computer to a 47 inch LCD HDTV using HDMI/DVI connection.

if u play pal dvd, the best if u set the screen refresh to 50hz or 100hz or 75 hz.

tnx. i recrate on the web admin the orbiter and now working. but now i have no ficker screensaver 

and if play some video i have no picture, just sound. but if i watch tv i have a picture without sound.
