Developers / Re: 0710 beta 2 available
« on: January 03, 2008, 11:38:12 pm »
I am having trouble with getting a successful DL DVD copy made. Was there an MD5 checksum available.

I have made and booted to many single layer DVD images but this is the first DL DVD that I have attempted.

Would it be possible to get a stripped down (non upgradeable) iso posted.

I ran a 'svn update' just prior to running make on release 461 of the code. No compile attempts prior

This is on a machine < 12 hours old installed from CD distribution of linuxMCE 0704

Greetings,

I had been interested in running doxygen on the lmce distribution on the Charonmedia SVN server and took a run at it on last Wednesday. I just upgraded the memory in my test box and it churned through much faster earlier today pointing at the "lmce/src" directory. The To-Do list was not very large.

What do you envision the script needing to do. Is it for customization of the default output.

I have observed a need to expand the documention some in order to make it a better fit for those not as intimate with the code or operation and setup of this huge appliance. A good example of that is why has someone not created a recipe for creating a new template for a not so popular Audio Visual Receiver controlled by IR. You find out quickly that the "channel:port" does not get added automatically. A search through our wiki turned up the answer which turned out to be a trivial task. This leads me to believe that we need an Integration area that specializes in how to configure addons and behaviors once lmce is installed. It is encouraging to see the number and quality of the documents added to the lmce wiki recently.

In the case of my r1000.ko not being compiled into the distribution what is the recommended remedy. The wiki page looks good.
Trying to prepare for the next new motherboard that uses another freshly released driver that does not require one to disable the onboard NIC and install another NIC to take its place by taking the place where one would have preferred to place a tuner card, etc...

Thanks. I wish I had known this technique back in October of last year when I asked multiple times on the Pluto site. Is there a way to easily add r1000 support to the modules that can be loaded. I know I can compile it on the dcerouter and copy it to the appropriate directories.

Developers / Re: GC100 v3.0 not working
« on: November 15, 2007, 07:41:58 pm »
It is my understanding that the perl scripts purpose in life is to find the factory defaulted GC100 and set its IP address to the Internal IP address and communicate that to the core with the MessageSend command which assigns a 'device ID'. The dhcp file gets updated along the way so we have a MAC address mapped to an IP address. And the GC100 config gets locked.

So is this where we can use the mac address range trick like we do for Cisco 79xx phones to make lmce fingerprint a GC100

I too have been struggling with the GC-100. I am waiting for the next linuxMCE release to start fresh.

Since I do not have any I/R capable units that are supported in the database I am hindered by other issues I have discovered while trying to add my NAD receiver and DVD player. I have a serial aware Sharp LC-45.

The first thing I am going to do is make eth0 my internal network and eth1 my internet feed. I have seen some unexpected behavior with the script on what interface it sets the ':100' sub interface on.

I am using a 192.168.1.0/24 on my home network which is to be connected to eth1 on the next install.

I am trying to approach this from the standpoint that if a prerequisite will help with 99% of the issue then it could work for everyone.

We have all struggled with getting a good reference platform in the plutohome track but with linuxMCE we were told what the developers were using and that worked well. Finding a motherboard that would netboot to a media-director was like diving for apples until now. The ASUS M2NPV-VM has been great except I have not been able to get more than 720P out of it. The next upgrade does mention 1080 support on nVidia though.

I just RMA'd my GC-100-12 for the firmware upgrade.

Thanks for the reference. I have not digested it enough to see the end of the tunnel yet. I did since find sql files in lmce/db_dumps. That will fit the pluto_main_build requirement but not the remainder of databases needed by BuildUbuntu_Functions.sh script (like main_sqlcvs_$flavor" and myth_sqlcvs_$flavor" ; $flavor=ubuntu) called by the make process. So this does push me back towards the sqlCVS topic. Thanks

I also found this reference in my journey. http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/SqlCVS#How_to_set_up_a_sqlCVS_Server

Installation issues / GC100 botched install
« on: October 24, 2007, 09:06:14 pm »
I have been trying to get a GC100 installed on linuxmce.
I think it is well established that the script is broken. I used the "Add GC100" button which failed.
I used the MAC address hack which resulted in the GC100 being added but the IR ports did not appear to be added and when adding A/V device the IR ports box is not offered.

I also saw residue from the install where the secondary address was still active on the ifconfig and the  Device_DeviceData table had data in it that looked like what the gc100 config script was using. I hard coded my eth0 to 192.168.1.250 on initial install from CD.

Is there a way to remove all remnants of the gc100 install or a way to manually add anything missing or not configured during the incomplete installation of the gc100. I need the IR and then serial to plug in my Sharp DTV

What URL are you following that allows MythWeb to be accessed. I have reinstalled from scratch and checked this again.
