you might be able to recover the files that were not written over, but the filesystem is destroyed so you'd need a recovery program where you can specify which filesystem the data was written in. I'm not sure if any free ones allow that.

you also will probably have to re-create the partition table the way it was previously which you probably dont know.

try to get to a shell alt-f1 alt-f2 etc. and then check dmesg and your xorg log (get the latest one in /var/log/)

When installing from the cd's linuxmce failed to cache my cd's so I needed to manually copy over the iso files from another computer. If i had an option to "select folder containing the files" i could've just copied the files from the cd right to the hard drive avoiding a usb stick and extra time.

Since no one else replied to you, i'd recommend a nvidia graphics card 6800 or better. for alpha blending you'll need to use their proprietary driver so i'd avoid ati. For capture cards grab a pvr-150 or pvr-250.

can you elaborate on this, I have the vendor/model string which is 8 digits, but the 250's template has a 16 digit number under the plug and play section. Where to the extra 8 digits come from? I tried to use the same last 8 digits from the 250's template without any luck.

I've also just ran mythtv-setup (with a few problems cause the backend auto-restarts and that needs to be stopped to setup tuners). Anyway mythtv can see the tuners and i set them up through mythtv, yet when i go into mythtv it still says there arent any tuners available (and no tuners are doing anything).

so now i'm really out of ideas... someone must've got 350's working or hdhomeruns since there is a template for it.

Looking at the plug and play section of the device template i tried to add my own vender/model ID, but that string (44440803) is only half the length of the one included with the pvr-250 template? Where to the extra 8 numbers come from?

I also have an HD Homerun that I added from the device template. I put in the IP address and mac address for the device and each tuner, but whenever i launch mythtv it just complains (every 4 seconds) that all my tuners are used. Any suggestions? Do I need anything else configured like device pipes?

I've ripped a DVD (after disconnecting my cd rom drive) and I've noticed that the volume controls have no effect. I'm using speakers directly connected to the computer.

I installed 0704 off the individual cd's with the correct kbuntu os. It went ok but it didnt detect my two pvr350 tuners and i dont know how to fix that.

Reading other posts it looks like i should be able to setup a new device template for the 350 but i'm unsure what manufacturer / device category / device template to put in. here's lspci -nn

does the vendor id map to the manufacturer? when i try 4444 i get, Error: the manufacturer does not exist

and they show up ok in /dev...
