Users / Connecting over internet??

Hi there! This is perhaps a really stoopid Q, but i really need to know!
Is it possible to connect a front end of LinuxMCE from say, my girlfriends place, to the main unit (Core?) in my home? And then watch TV, listen to music, videos stored and so on. You know, the full package!?!
I guess it have to transcode or something due to bandwidth restrictions? It doesn't have to be HD quality as long as it is viewable on a 32"...
If not, any solutions?
