Title: Setting up a Hauppauge PVR USB2
Post by: Travis on August 09, 2008, 11:06:52 pm
I hooked up a Hauppauge PVR USB2 tv tuner to my hybrid system, and it did not auto-detect it. I have tried rebooting. In the setup wizard it is not listed under providers. This system has a PVR-150 installed in it currently (it was picking up interference in the case making the tv static-y). I was hoping i wouldn't have to remove the 150, because its a small case and that would be a pain, and i didn't think it would be an issue. Is the 150 interfering in some way? How do i setup the USB2? Thanks.

It may very well be you have yet another variant of the PVR USB2 with another USB ID. can you open a console and give me the output of typing lsusb at the command line?

dude, you have problems with your USB controller.... most of your USB devices aren't reporting back their ID.

That's why the PVR USB2 isn't being found, and in this case, won't be found even if you set it up manually.

You might.......want to replace your motherboard.

:( I only have one thing hooked up to usb (aside from the pvr-usb2) and that is the gyration mouse. It seems to be reporting fine.

okay, in that case the other IDs i am seeing, are the ports...

well, your PVR-USB2 isn't reporting a USB ID at all.... can you give me a dmesg immediately after plugging in the unit? the last, 15 lines or so?

Anyone have any new ideas on this problem? I just got back from vacation, tinkered a bit more with it, but still the external tuner is not being detected. Any help is appreciated.

Hello,

I have a few questions.

What system board do you have?
Is it at the latest BIOS?
Does the Gyration work in all the USB ports?
Have you tried a different all the USB ports for this device?
Have you tried a different USB cable?
Have you tried hooking the device up to a different computer?
Does it work under winblows?

The outputs you give are showing a definite hardware problem of some sort.

I have the same device, and I have had issues with it on some computers, of course the computers that I have problems with it on are old, they even have problems with my USB HDs.

i think it's the hauppauge, the error message says that the device is sending back the error.  Did you set it up in pluto?  Could be a driver malfunction.
