I just installed LinuxMCE on my desktop. It will not be the center of the house, just my room. For some reason however, whenever the machine goes idle, my internet connection gets sacked and won't stop until I disconnect it of course. It won't tell me what its doing with my connection, nor will it give me an error when I unplug the connection. I'd like to know what its doing when I leave my computer idle, why its doing it, and how I can keep it from doing it again.
If this isn't where I should post this let me know, I couldn't find a better place to post.

The short answer:
A Linuxmce Core has to be on and working, or you will lose your internet connection...
Long answer:
The LMCE works as a router and DHCP server, so you either need to have it on at all times (or atleast when you need to do something), and you need to disable the DHCP server in your router.
There are bucketloads of reasons for this, and you can easily find the reasons by browsing trough the wiki (refered to on the main page)

Maybe the system is updating itself like it's supoosed to?

i think you need to give some more details about how you have it set up. i think a definition of "sacked" would help too.

My LinuxMCE Core is not the router, nor is it the DHCP server. I've gotten it setup so it doesn't need to be.
What I mean by sacked it that my 256k DSL connection (I know it sucks) is completely used up and anyone else trying to use it has to wait 5 minutes per page. (even worst if there is flash on the site)
If it is updating itself. It should at least tell me instead of making me worry about someone stealing my internet, or someone hacking my house.
I currently have my LinuxMCE core setup in my room, it is not the router, or the DHCP server. It is merely my media center for my room and nothing else. If it is updating itself, is there a way to schedule it to do it when no one else needs the network e.g. between 2am to 8am.

usually I'm not up at 2. My dad is. There isn't a way in the software to schedule it?
Also, where is the config files located? I need to change my user interface from UI2 to UI1 'till I get my graphics working right.

reboot the machine
during boot there is a long beep.
Hold down the left shift until you hear a distinct beep (release the shift button)
The AV wizard will soon pop up
