Title: 1-wire Autodetection
Post by: Techstyle on December 20, 2012, 07:45:29 pm
Over the last 6 months I have reinstalled a number of time for various reasons and everytime my 1-Wire USB device was autodetected, installed and then the connected sensors were found and installed.  This sometime took days, one time was really quick (L3mce said it was because of changes to the detection radar).  My latest install has been up for 3 months now and is yet to detect and install the device.

Any ideas if this is working right now?

Morning Techstyle,

I have the similar experience with 1-wire. Mine is normally detected after I add a MD or a Device. So have gotten into the habbit of installing my 1-wire before installing everything else.

Just got a DS9490R usb 1-wire this week, but no way can I get it to autodetect? :(
So I forced child on core as per wiki, but can only get it to look on usb0....When dmesg says it is on usb3, how do I get it to use that port? Can I force auto detection?
Not tried MD install trick yet as no MD available at this time.

I get this from dmesg when pluging in 1-wire usb:
Quote
5075.476028] usb 3-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5
[ 5075.638960] usb 3-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
[ 5077.191787] w1_master_driver w1 bus master: Family 81 for 81.0000003130d7.a8 is not registered.
Is this look correct?

I'm getting this error from the 1wire device log:
Code: [Select]
01 01/28/13 10:43:45.141 Opening port: /dev/ttyUSB3 <0xb776e6d0>
01 01/28/13 10:43:45.143 OW_init error: 22, Invalid argument <0xb776e6d0>
01 01/28/13 10:43:45.143 Connect() Failed <0xb776e6d0>
I did change the template to USB3, but don't know if I should have?
Is /dev/ttyS0 for the serial port 1wire adapter?
Can anyone help?

I think there may be a problem with the DS9490R with LMCE.  Take a look at:

http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php/topic,11328.150.html (http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php/topic,11328.150.html)

page 11 you will see I had the same issue with the DS9490R which I then replaced with the http://www.ibuttonlink.com/linkusb.aspx

It would be nice to get that one to work but I have struggled.  Probably get some of that back if you throw it on Ebay
