:)
Hi all, just wanted to post that I have created a wiki article to make viewing MythTV shares on non--LMCE systems, easier on the eyes.
After completing the steps in the wiki, you will see this:
1136_20080902220000.mpg
Turn into this:
The Shield - 2008-09-02, 10-00 PM - Coefficient of Drag.mpg
Just go here for the details:

It may be easier to just use the UPnP server that LinuxMCE and MythTV set up for you. The naming and sorting are human friendly already, and don't require you to copy all your TV shows.
Use the "dcerouter: MythTV AV Media Server" UPnP server to view recordings by human-readable groups.
See also, LinuxMCE's own UPnP server (which suffers from the naming problem, but gets you into your stuff)

I was thinking along these lines as well
but it would be nice to do in the instance of a windows machine connecting to lmce. I have been playing with this and it seems like renaming them for media players that dont actually use the upnp functionality but scan directories.
just my 2cents.
also, xbmc windows client was buggy as hell over upnp while directories & other stuff worked great.

In its defense, this simply creates symlinks to you actual recordings, it does not copy them over. And I have noticed with the LMCE UPnP server, that on random occasions (not easily replicated) my media disappears. I am sure this is because unless LMCE needs it, it tends to temporarily remove the media resource.
But at any rate, this simply creates a link to the actual file, it does not copy over the entire bit. SO no worries on disk space issues ;D
