pluto-orbiter failed to install?

During ./mce-install.sh I get the message that pluto-orbiter failed to install due to missing dependencies, notably pluto-avwizard and xine-ui.

Obviously orbiter doesn't start up. It's a hybrid setup with a fresh install of 8.10 (internet install). When X starts I get some huge text flashing on the screen "installing" a bunch of packages (including the ones mentioned above). And then a blank screen. avwizard has never appeared at any point.

I've manually installed pluto-avwizard, xine-ui, and pluto-orbiter, which seemed successful, and when it boots into X I get a window with the title "Failed to connect to DCE router"?

How do I fix this, and how can I make avwizard start so that I can make the appropriate settings?

I have the same problem. How can I manually install pluto-avwizard and other stuff? Linux is pretty new to me. What are the commands to do that?

I (we) use internet install (http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/LinuxMCE-0810_beta#Internet_Installation).
Should this not mean that we get beta2 - or rather simply the latest and greatest?

I also tried to install the beta2 from DVD. Got this yesterday via torrent. Burned the .iso image but it brings many errors. Not sure if this is my DVD-drive or the .iso file. Thats why I tried installing via web again. :-(

Same here, after having  a working beta1 setup (net) decided to upgrade, which borked my test system. Downloaded the beta 2 iso which is, during installation, complaining about missing packages (xine etc)

I have the same problem as the topicstarter
Did the net-installation 6 times now, and it get's stuck at that point.
Thought I had faulty burner or something, but seeing I am not alone, I am retrieving it from the bin.

I've run into what sounds like the same problem.
upgraded from Beta1 to Beta2 - all pkgs seemed to update correctly on the core.

Meanwhile I've been fighting with an MD failing to boot so decided to re-run Diskless_CreateTBZ.sh so I'd have the latest image for a re-build of my MD image

I tried forcing xine-ui install but it says its at the latest version.
avwizard version on core is at pluto-avwizard = 2.0.0.44.09120322558

Seems like a valid bug, and no quick solution avalaible.

Not to be a wiseguy, cannot check at the moment.
But why wouldn't it be?
Just followed the wiki as I did with alpha and beta1

In my case I may have removed the avenard repo as it was causing problems with the myth install.
There is another post http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=9232.0 where the avenard repo is removed and it didn't cause Viking an issue.

I've since put it back into my sources.list.
No extra packages added after an update/dist-upgrade on the Core, but the diskless image create script is downloading a heap more, will update here once the script completes.

I had this problem exactly and it was because the avenard 'release' repo was not in /etc/apt/sources.list it was in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/avenard.list (I had put it there manually during alpha days and upgraded to beta2)...  This causes the DisklessCreate_TBZ.sh to fail.  Put the avenard repo /etc/apt/sources.list as posde says and it worked like a charm!

No it wasn't, I've added it and mce-install.sh seems to be getting much further. I guess this step should be mentioned in the install wiki? Also worth putting in there would be the steps to configure the nvidia drivers, and the different versions required: http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_18897.html

I've just seen http://deb.linuxmce.org/ubuntu/new-installer-beta2.tar.gz has appeared now as well. I'm sure it wasn't there yesterday when I looked for it. I will give that a try in a couple of hours.

I can confirm that. 24 hours ago there was still the old installer file online. I will try the new one instead!
