Installation problems
« on: September 19, 2009, 11:38:31 am »
Hy I istalled MCE0710 on a Fujitsu siemens futro c250 computer.

I install 0710 from the full DVD and everything works fine till i schould get to the AV-Wizard.

The installer copy the files to the HD and then reboots when the sound comes i press shift and hold it

Then i see this screen and nothing else happens.

Thanks for help!

Hi,

Your system (according to a spec sheet) has a VGA output...

1 x display / video - VGA - 15 pin HD D-Sub (HD-15)

and Intel video...

Intel GMA 900

Are you using these or did you install a different video card?

It doesn't even look like its getting to the point where X starts, but it is still worthwhile checking the /var/log/Xorg.0.log file... see if that is even doing anything. If X hasn't been reached then you will find an old log file that mentions VMWare video drivers as that is what was used to create the DVD installer. If it mentions the Intel video chipset then perhaps it is getting to X.... we need to determine that first.

BTW, the GMA900 video chipset is very crappy and its support for Linux very limited. You will not be able to use UI2 as its OpenGL implementation is bad. And it will likely crash your machine when the screen saver runs, so you will need to disable that... but that's all for later.

Re: Installation problems

then it isn't even getting as far as X... you could start reviewing the system logs like system, kern, dmesg, etc.... maybe there is a hardware compatibility issue.... if so you should download kubuntu 0710 live cd and boot from that.... if that doesn't even work then the hardware isn't compatible with 0710, if it does, then you should download the CD version of 0710 and install it over the top of a vanilla kubuntu 0710 installation. failing all that, then you will need to try LMCE 0810...
