Adding Harddrives
« on: August 02, 2009, 05:11:31 pm »

I searched around the forum and wiki.. maybe i´m too stupid... Pleaze help !

My Core has a 500gig SATA Samsung Drive which is now almost filled up with data.

So i added a new 1tb Drive, which i formatted in ext3 and was later recognized from lmce. (Using LMCE´s directory structure)

But.. i can´t access it when i open the 192.168.80.1 smb share, it only shows my a left space of 23 gigs (from my Main Drive)

When i try too add data too the drive via the KDE Desktop, i can´t copy anything on it (write protected).

What am I doing wrong.

Thanx

Hi,

If you go into webadmin and in the left window at the bottom of the column open device tree.

Open your Core and see if it's there.

Hi,

Do you mean to say that on your MD when you go main menu Media> only Floorplan submenu appears and not

Floorplan, Manage Drives, Playlists, Pictures, Audio, Video, TV submenus?

Hi,

Please see this thread.

http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=8607.0

Since bitmonkey is now wrestling with hdmi audio problems I would guess that a core rebuild fixed his original problem and he didn't mark the issue resolved.

You could always try to PM him to find out.

Hey Pigdog !

Installed my Core again, everything works now..

But my adding Harddrive Problem remains.

If if add a ext3 formatted harddrive it will be detected and i can set it up with lmce directory structure.

But it does not show up on the home directory nore on the smb share... only the main disk is visible?

And yes .. the drive is shown under core in lmce admin

Pleaze help

Hi,

1) Have you upgraded to the latest alpha 2.29?

2) The new hard drive, did you install it on your Core/Hybrid?

Hi,

Go into webadmin at bottom of left hand screen open " Show devices tree".

Open Core find your storage disk and check PK_Users.

Does it says Public or LinuxMCE directory tree.

Hi,

I would just like to clarify...

All you should have to do with the new hard drive is format it with ext3, then install it in your core and wait for LinuxMCE to detect it.

LMCE will prompt you about it and you select use the LinuxMCE folder structure.

Did you install alpha 2.29 from scratch or upgrade from an earlier release?

Hello again !

The Install was made with Alpha 2.27

And it works as you wrote... ext3 format... recognized by lmce.. and so on..

But i can´t access the drive via smb share or kde desktop

Cheers
