Send to all MD's in house problem

The other MD's all think they are playing the video, and I've noticed that sometimes when I try to bounce the video back to another MD or send it again, sometimes it will "work" in that only 1 MD is still showing video at a time, but it is now in a tiny window.  I wonder if the command it is sending to the Nth MD is somehow different than the first one.  Or sometimes the screen goes black as if it is going to play, then shows the background picture but it is frozen.  Or if I was sending videos back and forth it shows the last frame of the prior video frozen.

Have there perhaps been updates to 0710 (I thought that was the purpose of disabling ubuntu's update service)?  It hasn't updated anything that I am aware of.

Totallymaxed - did you ever get an answer on whether the bug fix for this was propagated?

Hi Colin,

My mistake... I was confusing another fix, where tracks do not start playing at the beginning when playing a playlist, with this problem. That fix has been committed to the svn and will be part of 810.

As far as Uplink & I can tell (uplink works for Dianemo) multi-room playback of ripped DVD's using the media floorplan is working fine. The only thing that I can think of is that trying this with avi files might be the problem (I have not tested that hypothesis though).

All the best

Haven't tried ripped DVDs, but as mentioned in this thread, normal DVDs are working fine for each of us that have this issue. It is media files that is the problem... not sure if it is limited just to avi files....

Right... just re-read the earlier parts of the thread. Looks like its just media files then...

So strange. I've never had these problems...like...ever....

And we didn't have them at Linuxtag either, we were bouncing streams all over the place, much to the jaw dropping amazement of the passing attendees. ;-)

We dont see it either Thom... but we only do it with audio files and ripped DVD's... and it works fine with those.

No, I realise this, otherwise it would have been mentioned more often.... that being said, if you read back through this thread, and several others you will see that numerous people are seeing exactly the same issue... works perfectly with DVDs (dunno about rips at this point) but never works at all with media files.... don't know what the common factor is, but it is definitely completely repeatable and experienced in the same way by multiple people.... ie not a one off...?

Can someone with a working system post their dcerouter log when they send avi files to multiple MD's please?

donpaul

I just checked viewing .avi on multiple MD, and I get the same result. Only the original MD shows video/audio, the others just show a blank screen with the mouse pointer (bummer). It works fine with DVD and DVDrip.

I have the exact same problem mentioned above. DVD's either ripped or in the drive of core broadcast to all MD's fine. AVI files only play in the original MD with the rest showing a blank screen with mouse pointer in lower left corner. Interestingly enough I have an .mkv file which plays audio/video on the original MD, and audio is broadcast fine to the rest of the MDs, but no video. I'm running alpha 2.26. Has this been fixed and maybe I missed the solution? Thanks

Has anyone found a fix for this?  If not, is there anyone that has this working that can post their log please?
