Mute, Vol+, Vol- indication on the screen
« on: January 26, 2009, 11:38:47 am »
Hi,

I'd like to know if it's possible to have Mute, Vol+, Vol- indication on TV/monitor during playback video? For example, VDR can show Mute, Vol+, Vol-. Maybe the same can be done with Xine/mplayer?

TIA

I'd like to know as well because not having any mute on/off feedback is very frustrating when trying to figure out sound problems.  If the capability is not present then I would suggest that it be added to provide the user some feedback as to the current state. Just showing the current state for a second or two whenever it is changed would be satisfactory.

I'm currently using the TV for volume control, but when I switch to a receiver I think this would be a nice feature.  To up the ante a bit, it would be nice if one could toggle this on and off.  Those using TV volume probably don't want to see the TV and LMCE feedback onscreen.

This will be possible with our new re engineered MPlayer_Player which I´m working on.
Focus is to get basic functionality to work. As in play, stop, pause and ff/rew. All these work now and I am doing debugging and code cleanup.
There´s a couple of things still to sort out. Atm I have no way to get timecode back to lmce.

Niz,

I remember a discussion ages ago with Aaron about MPlayer and getting timecode back to lmce never worked back then either. I know thats no much help at all however!

All the best
