1920×1080 works but 1080p doesn't on media director
« on: June 19, 2008, 01:22:32 am »
I have an nvidia based media director with onboard hdmi port. When I run the A/V wizard and I select 1920×1080 it works but 1080p doesn't. Isn't 1920×1080 1080p anyways or is that 1080I? My tv is an LG and it is A full HD 1080p LCD tv, so that leads me to beleive that it's an issue with the media director.

Thanks

Choose the mode that doesn't work, then read your /var/log/Xorg.0.log file. Read through for the mode validation and selection processes. If there are issues it should list what the problem was there. You may find you either need to program the mode directly with a modeline to get the timings right (look up the modeline database on the mythtv web site as this has specific modelines for many TVs) or possibly find an option on the TV itself to "scan" the signal to determine the screen metrics (had to do this on my Samsung to get rid of overscan on 1080p50Hz, that worked perfectly as 1080p60Hz)

Hi,

Here's a link to what I had to do to get 1080p working on a Sharp Aquous.

You'll want to edit your xorg.conf EDID stuff to get native resolution.

Another area covers adding inputs via web admin.  I don't know if you need that.
