That module isn't present in the 2.6.10 we shipped from. What does it do?

Hi,

I think it's part of Debian Asterisk distribution (cause bristuff packages are included in Debian Asterisk packages - at least thew were)....

Will take further look and get back with more info,

thanks,

Rob.

hi,

I took closer look. Asterisk for debian is compiled wiht bristuffed patches (provide zaphfc and qozap modules that are important for majority of Euro ISDN cards) and zaptel (PRI and analog telephony digium cards) - and those two provide kernel modules. So zaphfc currently resides in 2.6.10 lib/modules/zaptel tree...

if Pluto is supplying custom kernel, then I guess it is needed to provide also custom compiled asterisk with all needed modules.... Is current Pluto kernel also default kernel under Debian Sarge? if not, asterisk should be recompiled against it (and I kindly ask for bristuff patches to be included cause of European clients) ...

Regards,

Rob.

It's not the Debian default kernel. I'll talk to someone else about Asterisk, zaptel, bristuff, etc.

The zaptel modules are the last remaining hurdle for my pluto system.  I have installed the zaptel binaries, kernel header sources, dpatch and zaptel-sources however I am unable to succesfully build the zaptel modules due to missing files.

I am trying to use the module assistant but get the following errors:

Code: [Select]
/usr/src/kernel-headers-2.6.13.2-vanilla-pluto-1-686/scripts/gcc-version.sh: No such file or directory

I resolved this by installing the kernel sources and linking the scripts directory however if I try running make while in /usr/src/modules/zaptel I get the following error

Code: [Select]
make -C SUBDIRS=/usr/src/modules/zaptel modules
make: *** SUBDIRS=/usr/src/modules/zaptel: No such file or directory. Stop.
make: *** [linux26] Error 2

Any ideas, or should I just wait for the next release of Pluto ?

I resolved the errors listed above by renaming the kernel headers directory and providing a symbolic link to the kernel sources.

The Zaptel sources now build correctly but I have the following errors when trying to install the modules using modprobe

Code: [Select]
zaptel: Unknown symbol class_simple_device_add
zaptel: Unknown symbol class_simple_destroy
zaptel: Unknown symbol class_simple_device_remove
zaptel: Unknown symbol class_simple_create

Any assistance would be greatly welcomed

After doing a search on Google, I discovered that this was a known bug relating to 2.16.13 kernels.

Digium fixed the problem in later versions of the source code, see following bug report:

http://bugs.digium.com/bug_view_page.php?bug_id=4639&history=1

I have now downloaded the 1.0.9.1-3 zaptel-source and rebuilt the modules using the module assistant and everything is working fine  :D

You might wish to consider Voicetronix

at some time.

Patching Asterisk for incoming fax functionality with spandsp files from soft-switch.org.

Ok, I'll try to include spandsp and app_rxfax, app_txfax in next asterisk-pluto package.

You might wish to consider Voicetronix http://www.voicetronix.com at some time.

I presume that you want asterisk to support voicetronix cards, not the switch  from asterisk to their openpbx, so I'll try to include this too.

By the way is there any reason to migrate to Voicetronix openpbx instead of asterisk? (more reliable, or more features, friendlier configs)

Isn't there another OpenPBX http://openpbx.org/ (a fork of asterisk) and how it's related to Voicetronix OpenPBX http://www.voicetronix.com/openpbx ?

Yes that is correct that I would want it for asterisk and not Voicetronix perl Openpbx.
As far as the fork of Asterisk to OpenPBX is almost a compleate rewrite. I'll anounce when the first stable release comes out so you know.

The Viocetronix OpenPBX is more or less just a VAR/Answering system and is vary limited. I don't think IMHO it would serve Plutos purpose or vision.
