Is my M2NPV-VM dead?

Well after a couple of months of buying parts, I put my core together today. I was excited to give LMCE a try after investing so much time and money into building a core - but I had no luck today.

After installing the mobo in my case, adding a brand new powersupply, RAM and CPU - I try to power on but I get some kind of bios beep code (Long short short - I think this means a video card problem?) But anyways, nothing is displayed on my monitor, it just repeats the long-short-short beeping.
I have tried pulling the battery and resetting the CMOS settings, but still get the same thing.

The processor is brand new (BE-2400), the RAM is brand new (4 sticks of KVR800D2N5/512 - Listed on the Qualified Vendors List in the manual). The motherboard however is used (i guess thats what I get for trying to save a few dollars) But it was listed as tested and working...

Anyways, just wanted to see if anyone could help me determine if it is toast of not.

Check on Google for a decode of the BIOS beep code. It could be any of several things. No picture is not a good sign. Fortunately you can move the rest of the parts to a new MB like this recommended one: MSI K9NGM3-FIH Micro ATX AMD Motherboard Item #:N82E16813130132 at Newegg.

 I had the same problem. --> you've to update the BIOS vwith version 1201.

On my M2NPV-VM i had an athlon 64 3200+, i changed it with Athlon 64 X2 BE 2350. After the change my system remained off for a week.
A week later, when i tried to start the system... all that come was a long-short-shor beep.
I tried to swap the ram between slots and nothing happened.
I removed the power cord and the BIOS battery. I had reset the CMOS shorting the right pin on the Mainboard.
It started only once byt i was able to see that my BIOS version was the oldest one (ver. 303) and that tha CPU was recognised as UNKNOWN AMD ATHLON PROCESSOR.
I found on ASUS website that ATHLON 64 X2 BE 2xxx is supported only in the last BIOS version.

You have 2 choices:
- You ask someone for one of THIS cpu (supported by the oldest firmware 303), do a swap, flash the BIOS and reswap with your CPU.

- second choice (the one i did).
 Use only one stick of RAM.
 Download the BIOS vers 1201 and AWDFLASH.EXE form ASUS site.
 Make a bootable floppy and put the 2 files on it.
 Connect a floppy drive to the mainboard (it supports 1.44 MB on default CMOS settings) and put the bootable floppy in.
 Try to reset CMOS (power cord/battery/short pins) until the system starts once.
 If you're not able to start the system, retry moving the RAM in another slot: first yellow/first black slot.
 After several times of CMOS reset my system went UP and i was able to BOOT form the floppy, starting the AWDFLASH and programming the BIOS with the lastest version.

Eureka !!!
After this operation the system was working fine, no more beeps or whatever else from the mainboard.

Look at the mainboard manual for the correct reset CMOS sequence .

I have had no luck getting to the point where I can flash the BIOS - it seemed to power up the first time only (but I had no keyboard or monitor attached). After that, no matter how I rearrange RAM and how many times I reset the CMOS, i still get the same beep error.

Looks like I need to get me a cheap processor

Wow - kept trying the same thing over and over (power off, reset CMOS and pull battery, move RAM) and it finally booted after 50 tries or so - I was able to update the BIOS and everything is great now!
