S60 Phones
« on: January 29, 2008, 02:05:56 pm »
Hello,

I just bought a Nokia N73 and a nokia 6120 which i tried to use as orbiters, they seem to use simbian 3 edition, but after a lot of reading and looking why it didnt work i found about the version.

Is there any planing on geting s60 working again or windows mobile is the way to go ??

Is there a way to recompile the app in order to work  on s60 3 edition phones ??

Thanks for your help

the actual code does not work for v3. It needs to be ported.

If someone with Java ME experience would dedicate some hours I could point him in the right direction to create a JavaMO.

JavaMO sounds good. Especially after announcing Google Android. But what about S60? The Orbiter should just be compiled under new SDK or some patching should be done?

it has to be ported to v3. Thats much work. The Symbian MO was developed for v1. Recompilation worked for v2 but not for v3.

A JavaMO for JME would be widely portable. Blu-Ray players run JME as BD-J (for menuing apps, HTTP, etc). DVB and OCAP/ACAP use JME the same way. Lots of phones, including the Android spec, run JME. JME looks like the grand convergence platform. So a JavaMO would be easily (supposedly trivially) portable to all those devices.
