Second Hard Drive Not Detected

I have a second internal SATA hard drive that I have installed on this system. LinuxMCE and the KDE desktop cannot find it though. If I use a LiveCD I can see it as /dev/sdb, however LinuxMCE does not see /dev/sdb at all. It's very weird that nothing I do can see it at all.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Maybe you still need to partition and/or format it?

I've already formatted and partitioned as EXT2. As I mentioned before, the LinuxMCE system doesn't detect the actual /dev/sdb device. It doesn't show up in anything.

I had to use a Linux LiveCD to Format and Partition.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Did you manually add it through KDE or did you let LMCE find and add it? I have noticed that going through KDE's desktop to add drives makes them unavailable to LMCE. I know there is a reason for this and workarounds but I don't know them.

No, KDE and LinuxMCE do not see this hard drive at all. The entire system does not have the ability to view it. As I mentioned before, I can only see the drive and format/partition from a Live CD.

Is your first hard drive IDE?

I have noticed some incompatibilities with combinations of IDE/Sata..

to the point of me going out and buying a SATA DVD burner...

Both drives are SATA. The first one is detected just fine, however the second one is not seen at all (Except in the Live CDs and other OSs.
