Problems with Installation of LIVE CD Kubuntu
« on: November 23, 2007, 03:06:53 pm »
I've tried more than x times to install Kubuntu LIVE CD, doing all what was requested in the installation guide. After shutting down and reboot nothing happened! I suppose there will not installed a /root directory, because if I choose manual formating no /root mount point was in place! Therefore the grub service could not find any information to start the PC.

Has anyone the same kind of problem with the LIVE CD (downloaded from the LINUX MCE hompage!)?

 Hi,

I had the same issue when first bought my MD hardware and it was bios related (acpi if i remember well)
For some reason grub wasz not installed because the install does not finish correcly and does not install all the packages. i tried to hack but when i've seen that some base packages where missing i played around with the bios and it all when fine. i guess this is documented on ubuntu / kubuntu forum.

 Good luck,

Rafik

Thanx for this hint! I've tried, but no positive result. Kubuntu still don't install a root directory and all what happened after rebooting is still a blank screen!

I'm quite using to install the total HDD for installation, but only a swap and a ext3 partition is generated!
What should I do, to get the root directory?

Could please anyone help! Or do you need additional information?

You might want to look over at the (K)Ubuntu forums as it sounds more like a Kubuntu install problem.

Does your mainboard have an SB600 chipset on it?

I guess the SB600's broken drivers is not the problem then.
