Core boot time
« on: November 13, 2007, 09:30:08 pm »
im testing mce (hybrid core/md) on an old pc of mine, want to be sure its worth using before I buy a dedicated machine ... (amd 1ghz, 256mb ram, geforce 2 gts)

rebooting the core takes AGES, like 20 minutes ... is this the norm for a core or is it because of the low spec machine ?

It's because of the low specs.
I had a 1.7GHz and the boot time caused me to think it had crashed on more than one occation.
The 3GHz is a lot faster, and I can usually get into the web admin and DHCP is up in a few minutes.
But remember, it's a server so starting all the services will take time (as for any server)
