PlutoMO won't update & install on new version
« on: September 14, 2005, 11:22:16 pm »
Hi,

I'm spotting problems in getting PlutoMO app on my mobile (Nokia 3650), particularly after releases....

I've checked reconfigure and send app and vmc file, reloaded router and nothing happens. I suspect this is going on for quite a lot of time - I've upgraded Nokia Pluto app only in manual way....

Any help ?

Thanks in advance,

regards,

Rob.

PlutoMO won't update & install on new version

Hi Rob,

Can you enable remote access on you core? I would like to check DCERouter's log (Orbiter plugin decides if a new version of PlutoMO is available and sends a message to App_Server to send the file again). So whatever was the reason no to send it, we could see it in the Router's logs.

Thanks,
Chris M.

Hi Rob,

We've found the problem and fixed Orbiter Plugin. The fix will be available next release. Until then, you can manually send the app running this script:

/usr/pluto/bin/SymbianPhoneInstall.sh <mac> /usr/pluto/bin/Pluto_S60.sis

Thanks and regards,
Chris M.

I did this, but it seems like vmc file is still old one....

What's the procedure to upload new vmc file ?

Rob.

Hi Rob,

This feature should work. We did the same test here and it's working. Add a new mobile scenario, then reload the router, with PlutoMO application open. When it will connect, PlutoMO will receive the latest vmc file with the scenario just added.

To debug it, go in DCERouter.newlog and search this line :
Code: [Select]
<VMC> Ready to create VMC file '/usr/pluto/bin/Symbian Series 60 mobile.vmc' from template
Few lines below you'll see something like this:
Code: [Select]
Need to send /usr/pluto/bin/dev_45397.vmc to PlutoMO, the checksum is changed

Then, in Bluetooth_Dongle newlog file, you should see a line like this
Code: [Select]
Sending /usr/pluto/bin/dev_45397.vmc file to PlutoMO, size 7791 few lines before bluetooth_dongle has connected to PlutoMO.

If one of these steps is missing, please contact me on yahoo.

Thanks,
Chris M.

Hi,

thanks - vmc is right now....

But wap part still doesn't work (I can access wap pages with IE browser...) - it says like "unknown answer " - I'm not sure if I translated right...

Also another minor - when in DVD remote on MO, when you get into other symbian apps, MO is still intercepting arrow keys and pops up back every now and then....

Regards,

Rob.

Right, this is a bug. I assigned this mantis for me: http://plutohome.com/support/mantis/view.php?id=1112. Thanks.

There are few issues with the commands sent by Vali from the wap pages, fixed for 30 release (which will be available this week).

Thanks,

Hi,

How do you get the vmc file onto the mobile? I've managed to get the sis file installed, but when I run the PlutoMO program, it just says (no data).

I'm assuming this is something to do with the vmc file btw ;)

The phone's a Panasonic X700.

Cheers,

Darren.

Hi,

To send the vmc file, you need to in pluto-admin website, click on your mobile phone device and check "Resend VMC to phone". Then reload the router.

Been there, done that! ;)

I'm at work at the moment, but when I get home I'll take a look through my logs. From what I remember tho', it looked as if it could see the phone, and wanted to send the file, but it wasn't being sent.

Is there any way I can send it manually?

Cheers,

Darren.

Yes... run
/usr/pluto/bin/SymbianPhoneInstall.sh <mac> /usr/pluto/bin/dev_xxxx.vmc and then copy the file from the phone's inbox to PlutoMO's folder. You can use FExplore to browse the files.

Hmm,

I'd tried this last night, and just given it another try...

The command just hangs there and doesn't do anything. Bluetooth is active on the phone and it asks if I want to recieve a file, then just sits there draining the battery on my phone :)

I'll copy the file to a different machine and try sending it that way...

Cheers,

Darren

Sorry, just noticed you said the vmc file was meant to be dev_xxxx (where I assume xxxx is the device number).

The only vmc files I can find on the entire server are:

Symbian Series 60 mobile.vmc
Windows Mobile Smartphone.vmc

both in /usr/pluto/bin.

Just tried a full regen on the orbiter wizard, but still nothing.

Any ideas?

Ta,

Darren.

I think we need to set an user for your phone. Orbiter_Plugin doesn't generate the cfg file if there's no owner for that phone.

I think I've figured it. Looks like Pluto didn't recognise my phone as a symbian one, it kept creating a windows tablet orbiter profile (I was wondering why that kept re-appearing!).

I created the orbiter manually on the orbiter wizard screen, then went to advanced and manually put the MAC address in. Just finished regenerating now, and it looks like its worked... at least I've  got some buttons now!

Which leads me onto another couple of slightly related, but hopefully easy questions.

1) what format do you enter the mac addresses in in the device templates? It looks like an integer, not the usual hex type MAC address.

2) If I add lines to the templates (MAC range for panasonic symbian phones, for example) does this get sent back to you at Pluto for inclusion, or is there somewhere I can submit the information for you to include manually?

Cheers,

Darren.
