Rip functionality rips wrong tracks
« on: October 17, 2007, 12:01:41 am »
When ripping single or selected tracks from a CD the tracks get mixed up.

Example : When I select to rip track2 I actually get track 1 being ripped but the library shows track2 and by the name of the file that is actually saved u can clearly see it's track1 that has been saved. Of course this results in a file not found when trying to play the song. However when I rip the whole CD all songs are correct and they all work fine.

When ripping a DVD the tracks are also mixed up.

Example : I ripped a concert DVD of The Beegees which has 2 parts. Part1 is the actual concerts will all the songs and part2 are some interviews. When I select a song directly in orbiter the 'DVD' (well it's not really a DVD anymore since it's on my HD now) starts playing from scratch but when I select a track of the second part (the one with the interviews) it actually begins playing the concert.

When playing directly from the original media it works correctly but after being ripped all goes bad :(
I got this problem on all boxes I tried to install until now (completely different hardware).

I often see a Track0 in the rip tracklist and on a newly installed box I always have a song named *(26)* in the library which has no file on the HD -> /home/public/data/audio is empty

Any solution would be highly appreciated since the main purpose of this box is to put all my music on it and I am currently completely stucked until I have a solution for this.

This seems like something that needs to be reported as a bug. It seems to be repeatable and its a component of the system that needs work.

Has anyone ever succesfully ripped the track he selected ????

Tested all kinds of original audio CDs on 3 different LinuxMCE installs and none ever ripped the right song.
Sometimes I see the title that I selected but when I play it in fact it's the wrong song (next song CD) but mostly it says that the file doesn't exist however when I check /home/public/data/audio/.... (the exact path to the file it says it doesn't exist) the file is there and when I select 'delete' instead of 'play' it nicely deletes the file that the play function couldn't find.
