Appears the Wiki docs are confusing as they dont match what Im seeing on screen using the 0704 DVD install.

So for now, I want to get to the WebAdmin. If I hit the IP I get nothing back. Local LAN, 192 network, etc. Does WebAdmin have to be enabled ? Seems odd.

Also, I want to add an RS232 device to control my alarm panel. How on earth you do this escapes me

Any ideas ?

Zaerc

Yeah I got an idea, try being less insulting when you ask for help.  And who knows someone actually might take some of their spare time to help you out.  :P

:-)

Easy tiger !

Is the webadmin enablement hidden around somewhere ?

Hagen

Webadmin should be enabled by default.
Are you sure it's the right IP address?
(you can use either the internal or external IP, in my experience it doesn't matter).

RS232 devices I don't know about.
Sorry if that didn't help you much.

plodge

I'[m getting the IP off the LinuxMCE screen - shows internal ip (192.168.1 addy) then IP from my DHCP, etc.

is it just http://ipaddress ?

As for RS232 - there's mention of adding a generic device but the options it mentions just dont exist on 0704 as far as I can tell.

Hagen

You don't need "http" in front, Firefox/IE/Opera/K will figure it out.
However, what is the IP of your router?
My guess is 192.168.1.1, same as your LMCE box

I think somebody is being a huge dumbass again.  But don't worry I'm used to that from you by now.  ::)

Just keep trying... who knows, one day you might actually succeed not to make yourself look stupid while attacking me.

Sage advice indeed.

The router here is irrelevant. The LinuxMCE box IP on the LAN is 192.168.0.20 dished out by the router. Install downloaded a load of stuff from t'internet.

Is there a LinuxMCE net config to check ? Or is it low level linux ?

Nope, failed again, you still look like a stupid jackass.  :-*

Back on topic:

Search the forum for eth0:0 and you should be able to find a thread with a lot of info on changing the network settings, it often has to be done in several places (depending on what you're trying to achieve).
