Hi,

I just installed Linux MCE with the 2 cd version (the latest).
It works great but when I insert a cd with an .avi (xvid) file it does nothing but telling me there is a cd inserted.
Then when I want to play it (media > manage drives > play) it tells me there are no files or it is not capable of playing...

Next problem is it doesn't detect my Pinnacle PCTV Stereo PCI card. Also MythTV keeps saying:

MythTV is already using all available inputs for the channel you selected (etc.)
but I don't use anything at all yet... Also when I enter the setup menu I have 2-3 seconds before this message comes back again and then it returns to the main menu. When doing nothing for abot 20 seconds it says: MythTV is having problems. Reset the backend?

Please help me out on this

Hi,
I do have the same problem with my Pinnacle PCTV Rave (PCI)...
Any clue ?

chris33f

Have a look at this PCTV Rave with MythTV :
http://pvrhw.goldfish.org/tiki-view_pvrent.php?systemid=Geidi
I guess it should work within LMCE !?

I made it work almost.
I have the video but no sound yet
Go in the computing tab and select software/mythtv, then browse all menus
I am in France so the default values are wrong since configured for the US. I used the DVD install since the CD install fails http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=1942.15
My capture device is V4L:/dev/video0 Input Television
Then you need to create a video source, configure with the basics, no teletext... for me it's SECAM
Then in the last menu just choose the capture device and the video source and scan for channels : it works !
Next step is sound...
by default it's set to /dev/dsp, and the audio output of my PCTV is wired to the audio input of the sound board... still have to investigate.
If anyone has an idea in the meantime....

For sound, make sure (probably using alsamixer) that the linein on your sound card is not muted and has the volume up.

I don't have sound either.

Did you guys manage to get it working?

Are you also experiencing quite bad (worse than normal) quality on the tv?
