Insteon IP camera
« on: March 30, 2014, 03:47:04 am »
I just purchased 2 Insteon 75790 IP cameras and am looking for suggestions as to what the best way to control them might be. I really didn't think about it when I ordered them and now that I am trying to install them I am not sure what the best way would be.
Basically these are wired or wireless (I would use Wired with POE), use DHCP or static IP and are accessible through a web browser. Features are 300 degreePan and 120 degree tilt, motion sensor and IR LEDs, also have 2 way audio allowing you to listen to audio but also allows you to remotely speak through it.

Ideas/suggestions?
Would I need to give up on any of these features? would I need to have an insteon controller of some sort?

Thanks

Apart from the old Panasonic IP Camera template as a base for a new device template, you might want to look at the Advanced Camera based templates, see http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Advanced_IP_Camera for details.

Thank you Posde.
I chatted with Thom last night and he gave the same idea to use the Panasonic template as a starting point.
I had already tried the motion wrapper with no success.

I did some research on this camera last night and found that is is made by a company called ReeCam in China.

Found some information on CGI calls to the camera on this site:

http://wiki.reecam.cn/CGI/Overview?setlang=en

and some other info on the main site http://wiki.reecam.cn/

I am a networking guy and not a programmer at all so this is going to take me some time to figure out but I am willing to give it a try as I would like to learn how to make templates so I can add some other devices.

Meanwhile, if someone with the know how would like to also give it a try, and/or guide me through it let me know and I would be willing to purchase another camera and send it to you.

Thanks

As I said: take the advanced IP camera wiki information, and you should not need much else.

Got it.... I'll try to carve out some time to mess with it this week and will post results.

Thanks again
