Hi,

Connected my NAS to the Core/Hybrid and it was discovered.  (A little slower than usual.)

I added Volume_1 and Volume_2 as windows shares.

I waited an hour and a half but no videos were presented under Media>Video.

I checked /home/public/data/videos/ and saw only "Windows Share-Volume_1  [31]".

When I tried to "ls" the files I received the message  "Too many levels of symbolic links."

I then did a reboot.

After about 10 minutes I did an "ls" @ /home/public/data/videos/ and after about a minute was returned with "Windows Share-Volume_1  [31]" and "Windows Share-Volume_2  [32]".

I did a ls on "Windows Share-Volume_1  [31]" and after about 2-3 minutes I received the  "Too many levels of symbolic links." message.

I did the same on Volume_2 and received the same message.

Nothing was listed under Media>Video.

I'll poke around later.

Cheers.

Hi,

So my NAS is still being discovered and created as a Windows Share.

On Feb.23 second Edition when I try to list the content of the directory 'Windows Share-Volume_1 [34]. I receive "No such File or directory".

It doesn't take 5 minutes anymore to provide a response.

I tried reboot the NAS but my videos are still not being populated under Menu>Media>Video

Selecting any of the sorting options does nothing.  Stay on "Title".

Cheers.

Hi,

Dang!  I did an apt update/upgrade and now I'm back to the slow "ls" time and "Too many levels of symbolic links" on the Windows Share.

Hi,

My NAS is not detected at all on Feb. 24 28755 load.

Rebooting of system/NAS/ethernet in/out.

phenigma

There is no dhcp or internal networking at all on 28755.  Fix in the next snap.

Hi,

On March 1/14 release No detection.

Tried regen, reload and reboot - no go.

Secondary internal HDD detection but no external (switching hub) detection.

Cheers.

Still been some additional networking issues.  I believe they are solved but still have to test later today when the new snapshot hits.

NAS was recognized and I created Windows share.

Doing a "ls" on the Windows Share Volume gave me "Too many levels of symbolic links".

Cheers.

Hi,

I tried to unlink and nothing happened.

I tried rm -i/ and the symbolic links were removed but were then recreated on reboot.

Is it something to do with the file size?  I have quite a few videos in the Windows Share Volumes.

Cheers.

Just reporting same issue of symbolic links on Apr.1 28890 load.

Hi,

I've been dealing with this and I haven't hears whether anyone else is in the same position.

Without my NAS videos, music, pictures, documents, (backups) etc. there's no use even trying to get an MD up because there's nothing for it (the NAS) to do in my environment.

(so sad) Cheers.

huh

I tried adding a nas last night, 1204.  Found the nas and win share, put in user/pass and put everything as public.  Overnight let it sit and next am didn't have any media.  I can't reproduce your sym links.

Hi,

The NAS get detected you have your Windows_Share(s) and no media.

In my case when I try to cd or ls the [Windows-Share XX] files from a terminal window I get the symbolic link message.

Thanks for looking.

A side note: All of my audio library is on a NAS and it works without a hitch. It didn't get autodetected, as it is on the outside network, but everything is working fine.

Hi,

I tried a little experiment just in case I had some kinduva "content limit" issue.

My NAS has 2 HDDs so I removed one drive, reloaded 12.04 software from scratch and rediscovered the NAS.

The HDD was picked up as a Windows share, added, however no media was populated into LMCE from the LMCE directory tree.

The first drive had 442 foflders of content.

The same steps were done with the second HDD with 26 folders of content.

No changes in the results.

I'll have to think of something else.

I've already checked ownership, privilages, tried deleting sym links, tried deleting in SQL, ...

...any other ideas?
