samba password forgotten on reboot
« on: August 26, 2013, 11:21:56 am »
Hello,

I used
Code: [Select]
sudo smbpasswd pluto_USER to set a samba password, as described in the wiki. However I have to do that again after every reboot, any ideas why?

Best regards
Daniel

I would assume if you change the userpassword in webadmin that would work...

Yes, you are thinking too hard. Do not reset samba passwords manually, as the system keeps them in sync, and rebuilds the passwords on reboot.

Use the users section of the web admin to do so.

Thank you, I added a note in the wiki, (http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/SMB_/_Samba_NAS_Configurations) because it was mentioned to do it like that there.

Best regards
