Might see if I can get a sample to play with as a fixed android orbiter....

might set it up a a central wall mounted orbiter... might be a clean way of setting up room orbitors

i get back to ya once i jabber with them some more

Hey, that looks very cool. RJ45 connector with POE makes it a winner. Then you don't have to muck about with power bricks and the like. Very nice.

Wonder about the pricing, though...

MOQ 1000 @ ~140USD incl PoE. Just ask for a quote.

Thankfully, we don't need the z-wave, zigbee, etc... We have an actual system to handle those ;)

Well, I like the fact that they provide those. Maybe someday they will be useful. But for that, we would need to have device drivers that run under Android.

A normal retailler for the above product...  also carries 9" as well as options..

That's not bad at all. Wonder what they mean by "external RJ45" with adapter.... seems strange that this would be combined with POE compatible. Surely to be POE compatible it has to have the electronics to split off the power from the signal so one would think that's pretty much integrated. Would be good to know.

I must say, the absolute best for me would be a tablet that "docks" into a wall station like this. So you can slot it in and it charges, has LAN etc directly... and then you can pull it out and wander around with it.

Still, the above would be pretty good for me just as a viewer for my security cameras and could happily mount just above my gate intercom. Running Q or weborbiter would also allow me to use it to control the home...

Crestron has something like that for iPads. It is even motorized if I remember correct. Price point for the dock itself ~1500EUR

Ya  Crestron has a in-wall control panel running $1200+ depending where you look......

As far as POE on these units its a POE power board ( add on adapter board ) external to the android unit its self...  the add on board does the
48v 803.2af/data separation for the main unit.  This is nice not being internal to the unit for service reasons...  But really one could run the 9v-27v
power via passive baluns if really needed and use wifi for main lan connection.  But POE is a really nice add on for this anyhow.

My point is that it is a static android control panel that can be used with other control systems via app like micasa, touchsquid, ect

But when i get time to order a 7" or 9" flush mount sample ill do a run up on it in the hardware wiki...  Looking at testing one as a central control
android orbiter on each level of the house that i am remodeling :)

Plus it might work well in a micasa demo board i am working on for a trade show..
