I know there has been talk of moving away from mythtv as a pvr backend, this may be a way to do that. Has anyone looked at this yet? Looks interesting.

Internet TV is not a solution.

Please elaborate. Why is Internet TV not a solution to be considered? I am aware that "Internet TV" alone will not in the next 4-5 years replace broadcast via Sat, cable and air, but internet is just a protocol - that can be transmitted via sat, cable and air..

Ubuntu TV is more than internet TV, It is competition to Apple TV, google tv etc, it is a platform that will be embedded into the tv, it will also be connected to the ubuntu cloud, and from what i understand because of this may enable the purchase and watching of movies from places like netflix etc. It will also be able to communicate with cable cards etc to act as a dvr . And since ubuntu is open source, ubuntu tv is also open source and all pieces of it can be leveraged and ported to linuxmce etc.
