It is located in a function called installCorrectNvidiaDriver() within nvidia-install.sh

This is interesting.  I was reading through the wiki and forum trying to prepare myself for building a LMCE 0810 machine in the next few weeks.  I was trying to familiarize myself with some if the issues and fixes that people have been having so I can go into this somewhat educated.  I noticed that some of the issues had to do with Ubuntu 8.10 reaching its end of life and the repositories moved.  Then I started wondering, why isn't LMCE aligned with the LTS releases?  That way you get three years of support for the distribution so you have more time to develop the package.  Now I am not a developer, I don't even play one on TV so this is in no way an indictment on the developers.  I am also not looking for a turn-key system.  I am a DIY tinkerer; that is one reason I am drawn to LMCE.  I look forward to the challenge; hopefully, I will learn enough to start contributing something.  Then I stumbled accross this thread.  Now I have to ask, is one of the reasons that 10.04 was selected because is brings LMCE in line with the LTS releases from Ubuntu?

Thanks for your time,

M.

Yes. There's a whole list of things that happened, reasons things were done before we got to this point...if you really want to know, they're documented all over the forum...but...yes.. the reason we are doing 10.04, is to push us in line with the LTS releases.

Cool...I will dig some more and see what I find.

Thanks,

stupid question: why isn't there a new branch in svn for the 10.04 version? Wouldn't it be easier with a new branch?

tschak909

Because right now, we are trying to unify some things and try to make the transitions easier for future versions, by making things run on 0810 and 1004 simultaneously.

Eventually this branch will be juxtaposed to trunk.

i understand. this is a very good idea...  ;)

FYI:  I just installed the 10.04 and except for the video card drivers everything went fine.

I have an NVIDIA card and I had to comment out the video card drivers loaded in the script, and then it installed just fine.

Also bluetooth drivers/software is not new enough to bond to my motorola atrix phone.
I have another linux install on another pc(non-linuxmce) with newer drivers and it bonds just fine.
Version 4.96 is current, but it worked with 4.88
LinuxMCE fails to "ask for" or display a code to type in the phone to get a successful bonding.
Tried all the usually choices: 0000,00000,1234, and etc

tschak909

cybernard, can you please list all the hardware (with models, and other details), in your system?

Also, there are very few phones anymore that support the mobile orbiter software. It's Symbian, old versions of Windows Phone, and J2ME based devices which have CLDC1.1/MIDP2.0 with JSR082 (Bluetooth) capabilities in the J2ME engine.

This situation will change when qOrbiter is ready for general testing.

I noticed slimserver has changed their package name again!
On 10.04 (lucid) the package is now called logitechmediaserver.
I can change the package name for SlimDevices Slim Server (#291) for the lucid dependency.
How do I get it checked in?
I'm assuming trac tkt against 10.04 then stick that # in my sqlcvs diff check in?

thanks
-Coley.

p.s. is this the right thread to keep track of this kind of info? haven't been on IRC recently so don't know if there is a specific place.

Next time, please note the batch id of your sqlCVS checkin by going to schema.linuxmce.org and taking a look at your negative batch number. And put that information into the trac ticket. Without foxi's change to sqlCVS which makes announcements to -devel irc channel, it would not have been noted.

Ok will do.

BTW schema.linuxmce.org just gets me an apache landing page.
I found the id going to http://www.linuxmce.org/sqlCVS/?site=batch/view I assume they should both be looking at the same info.

for completeness added batch id to trac#

I'm taking 1004 for a testdrive at home. Installation went very nicely, aside from asterisk not picking up (Foxi352 got the ticket already),
I noticed artefacts appearing after watching TV for a while, getting out of mythtv, running the screensaver or watching a video, then they appear. Reboot of the MD fixes that. Nvidia drivers 260 are installed.
